Which Power Steering Box?

Hello,

I've been reading a few threads on here about fitting power steering to my currently manual (Discovery) 200tdi Land Rover 90, but which box do I need? I currently have a 4 bolt manual box fitted to my motor but there are loads of different power steering boxes to choose from on ebay. 4 Bolt, 5 Bolt, 6 Bolt etc. I will need to source a pump and some pipes to match the box, so I take it that they all have different fittings.

Ah'd probably go for the 4 bolt type mesel' pos. They seem to be more common and cheaper to replace if needs be

If ye can wait until later on for part numbers etc ah'll post them up fur ye... after ah've made the dinner, chop some wood, light the fire and eat me dinner

NRC6051 STEERING BOX POWER 3 BOLT
NTC1580 STEERING BOX POWER 4 BOLT
NTC1582 STEERING BOX POWER 6 BOLT

Some of these may have been superseded, just google em and sit down as they ain't cheap

4 bolt or 6 bolt are interchangeable ,3 bolt has different pipe connections ,pump end of pipe vary depending on age and vehicle

Thanks for that. There are plenty on ebay at quite reasonable prices. Redhand is having a look in his shed for me!

That's good to know thank you. I might end up having to have some pipes made up / source some from a different vehicle.

6 bolt adwest - NTC1582 0r withan E onthe end fur exchange.
4 bolt adwest - upto JA919038 STC398

200tdi pipe from reservoir to pump - NTC8192
" " " " " pipe from pump to steering box - NTC8195

200tdi power steering pump - upto 11L22454A NTC8287
"" " " " " " " " " " "" "" " " " - from 11L22455A Ntc9070

The above is for a Defender.

Hi James/Buster, you guys wouldn't know the thread or part Nr for the pipe with the different thread on the 3 bolt box, (the non interchangeable one). I have one here, but for the life of me can't get a fitting for it...

its both pipes 3 box uses an olive type seal 6 and 4 bolt spigot and o ring you need the 3 bolt pipes if fitting a 3 bolt box
