I'm having a real dilemma over what boots to buy for my D2.

I want to increase size to 265/75/16 and if money were no object I would go for BFG All Terrains, however it is so I'm looking at the following and would welcome any comments/advice.

1. Insa Turbo 'Ranger' - direct copy of the BFG AT and cheap - ok they are remoulds but they have to pass stringent safety tests so not too worried.

2. Mickey Thompson Baja STZ - A new design that I really like the look of, price creeping up but maybe worth it.

3. Runway Enduro AT - Cheap as the Insa and not a remould but don't look very aggressive and I ideally need a 50/50 tyre and these are a 60/40 on/off.

4. Discounted the newer Grabber AT as whilst they are good on road they are poor in slippery ruts

Any others I should be looking at? Budget is max £500 for 4

I can only speak about what I know, which is BFG AT's .. they're awesome, and if you sell 'em on with loads of tread left after 25000 miles or so you'll then get £250+ back for them .. at least I did, twice .. this is my third set!!

Mind, My next set of tyres will most likely be real off-road, Insa Extremes maybe, but to be honest the AT's have never really let me down, except in 'real' mud!

Why dont you look out for a good second hand set of BFGs they are for sale all the time as people move on to more agressive tyres, i got a set for £250 on rims !

BF Goodrich ever time my present set have now done 43000 with probably another 15000 on the fronts and 25000 on the rears. As said earlier only in deep mud do they give up. Buy a second hand set. You wont regret it.

Runway Enduro's are an awesome tire. Very capable off road. Had mine on for over a year and done some very tough stuff with them and never struggled once.

I had BFG A/T on my Defender before I got the Discoverer STT's, they wore down about 1.5-2mm in 12000 miles and i got £180 back for them, but they were only 235/70's, they looked crap on my Defender  But they were great in the snow :D

Having used both the BF's and rangers,, there is not really anything Batween them.

Both are very good AT tyres. Granted one is a copy and a remould but the rangers at £60 to £70 a corner I would go with them. Rather than chance my luck on second hand tyres.

I have used the rangers the last 2 years with no problems done 18000 miles and their is still atleast 20000 on them.

I have used them on pay and play, also when I have gone laining.

So in a nutshell don't discount them there bloody good.
