Where to put the blank?

You don't need to goto all the effort I did on my blog unless your fitting a snorkel, if you are then replace the lower pipe as well and remove all the Jap stuff off.

As said , take the whole lot off and blank it on the manifold !
-cut the 2pipes shorter and fit copper pipe and jubaliees as said before
Replace the top hose/inlet pipe .

Where to put the blank?
