Hi All,

I've got a 1998 300tdi donor 110 landy and I've got the front & rear axles off. Front is now stripped down to the point where there's nothing on the "ends", but the diff is still intact.

I've been reading through the workshop manual on the diff removal and replacement, and it looks pretty terrifying. Lots of talk of shims and washers and gauges and thou.... Not exactly my forté. I like the general sort of land mechanics which normally involves a hammer and 5ft of scaffold pole.... that's more my scene!

ok, so I'm being a little over the top, but I'm seriously concerned about my ability (and my equipment) to be able to complete this bit of the job.

Do any of you know some decent companies for refurbing my salisbury axles/diffs? I know that Aschrofts wont do them, which is a shame as they're doing my gearbox and t-box.

Thanks

Adam

Yeah everything I've read by James says he's never needed a casing stretcher.... But tbh, getting the gubbins out is the least of my worries... It looks like pretty precision work.

Front axle is std Rover diff only rear is a Salisbury. If you find someone cheap, Let me know :D

There's a chap on the industrial estate where we are. Who makes Morgan Chassis, and builds Morgans up. I'll have a chat with him & see if he knows of anyone.

Ah... The man of the hour! Do you refurb these then James? If do would you be able to pm me with details of prices and timescales?

Thanks

Adam

yes ,surprisingly very few do ,generally they need 4x bearings ,collapsible spacer, seal and 2 x gasket and a flange if its grooved

oh well, I've not heard anything from Mr Martin, so perhaps he doesn't fancy it. Simmonites website claim they do it... anyone any experience of them?

I would send him a pm instead of relying on him to contact you :)
Thanks for the advice, but that's not how I do business :)

I've had a few PM's back and forth with James now, and a great phone call. Thanks for your time chap!

Fingers crossed he'll be on possession of 1 front diff and one rear axle from me very soon.

Fair enough, glad you're sorted now :) I've met James and he would certainly be my first port of call.
Was just saying, if I wanted a job doing I would expect to contact them first.
