Thanks Dopey, after reading the earlier posts on the subject I seemed to get the impression that Island were "not the value for money" than other suppliers.

I'd be surprised if you can get a new one much cheaper, £200 is pretty much the going rate I think for #4 injector.
I wouldn't waste my money on a used one, for obvious reasons.

Thats the cheapest I can find, and I looked at a lot, like wam says, don't get used, is there no one who will refurb the wire out there?

Last one I got was from GSF but they are expensive now (£95)

Ignore post #6 at your peril, unless you know concisely what he means (I gather it's the numbers, but??).... then ask him, Sir Wamz.;)
else we'll be 30 posts on wondering wtf went wrong and he'll ultimately say, "check post #6, what did I say to you?"
He doesn't do it deliberately, but if you don't put up your hand and ask.........?

I bought one from lrparts for 138 GBP or so, BOSCH Indian made.
Not so happy about it knowing Indian quality but it works well, so far.

I know about the 2 different types, I've seen Wammers earlier post listing the 2 part numbers. Luckily mine is a 99 so sits well within the latter type.

Can these injectors just be changed or do they need balancing? Father in law has an 05 Mondeo and was told his needed balancing.

Check Paddock Spares then ring Eurocarparts on 0203 788 7842. Tell them you need to know what part number to search for on their web-site. Whatever price they give check it has the following offer code or similar: USE CODE: PAYDAY35.

There are 2 #4 injectors available. Cannot remember if yours has EGR or not but the part number will be STC2290 or STC4218.

Mondeo injectors are coded to the engine ecu.

There are two number four injectors, one pre EGR and one post EGR both do the same job, but Land rover in their wisdom decided to change the plug and loom socket on them. So they cannot be swapped over. Would not do for one injector to service all versions would it. Early version pre EGR STC2290 is £193.99 at Island and later version STC4218 is £210.00. They are plug and play.
