Hi Folks,

I have searched and found a few leads but to keep it recent does anyone know a decent insurance company that will cover our 1998 Range Rover DSE that we have as a 3rd car. Weonly use it to tow a trailer very occasionally due to fuel prices etc...
It just sits on the drive most of the time and covers very few miles.

Its not exactly a classic car but I just need a company that will allow us to drive it maybe 2000 miles a year.

What sort of figure would I pay for this given we are 30's Full NCB?

Any thoughts very much appreciated.

Richard

Thats Good Redhand!

I only want to use it once a month or so and its about £400 a year we're paying.
Car insurace! Stupid, just stupid!

just paid out for mine, just under £700 by a couple of quid. That's with 3 years NCB!

Went with Sureterm Direct - I spent an entire afternoon ringing insurance companies and this was the absolute cheapest I could get it, I was with NFU but for some reason this year their prices shot up so went with Sureterm.

Like you Gav, I thought I had found the best deal, seems until Im 25 I shall continue getting f***'d over by these damn companies no matter what NCB I have :(

Norwich Union wanted almost £1800 though to insure me though, said why is it so high and got told 'because it's a very powerful car for someone to drive at such a young age!' After I had finished having a chuckle I invited the guy trying to sell me the insurance to come and drive it and then tell me whether it's 'powerful'!

i put my mother on as a named driver(when i first got the policy for an escort cabriolet) and it took the insurance from £752 to £438, the swapped to rangie and it went back to £700 with her on aswell.

i have no idea how the companies calculate insurance, i think the have a bag of numbers and get the dog to pick a few out!

The joke of the entire thing is that the paperwork for all the Sureterm stuff arrived through the mail yesterday and I opened it and checked it all over. At the top of the summary page which lists everything you have got on the policy its got Norwich Union written all over it in fecking capital letters.

Now how can NU give me a quote for £1800 yet Sureterm give me a quote for £698 but the cover is still, or seems to be, provided by NU?!

Whole insurance business is a bloody rip off :fighting:

here in ireland we have to pull our trousers down for insurance and we were quoted well over €900. for a 01 2,5 dhse then a quick search on google we came out with 123.ie Cheap Home insurance, House, Car, Motor, Travel Insurance in Ireland and were quoted €417, thats with 5yr ncb, funny thing is that policy is still the exact same provider and only the letter head has changed...
the old broker asked for a re quote and well im still waiting for their reply.
shop around,,,,,,
joke of the day its cheeper to insure the wife on my commercial disco with tools than me with 16yrs driving experience..........go figure

One of the external engineers that our place deals with, runs Rangies, Landies & other classics & suggested to me a 3 car policy from Footman James. I haven't tried it yet as I had just renewed for the year but he reckons it was very good.

Swinton are doing £50 cashback thru confused.com or moneysupermarket.com at the moment mine cost £97

I tried swinton for my dad, he has full no claims and they quoted £590.00. I also went through confused.com and money supermarket they were all £470.00 and up. So i put in my details i paid £230.00 last year with Adrian flux nothing has changed and my quotes are coming back as £560.00 and upwards.
So how are you guys getting these prices??
Mark
