where can i get a transfer box for my 89 defender

hello all
i am a bit new to the old landrover scene and would like some advice on transfer boxes as mine has gone crunch click bang stop and i need a new one. i have a 1989 90 and have been quoted £620 for a new box which seems like a lot as there seems to be lots of cheaper stuff on the net. how do i know what fits and seperate the wheat from the chaff?
any help welcome

Landrover 90 transfer box 1.4 ratio 60k miles only on eBay (end time 30-Jan-11 14:19:51 GMT)

Paid £100 for mine, took me a Saturday to fit it having never done it before,
With a decent garage of tools, 2 trolley jacks.
And alot of brutt force n swearing.

There are specialist companies who will sell you a reconditioned box (eg. Ashcroft) - more expensive than second hand, and cheaper than new, But you get a quality box from a reputable firm and it comes with a warranty.

got a lovely 12j, lt77 and transfer box sitting on pallets here @ the yard...
