I cured that one! With brand new lr seals! I’ve no idea now. I don’t ever want carpets. It’s more saving the bulkhead and not having a wet boot hovering over the throttle. (Ridiculous design)
yep fighting the design all the way, i got some roofing lead ( the none metal stuff from screw fix) its like bitumen on a roll with a dull foil finish, used it bonnet side front fire wall slope pressed over the bolts till they pooped through then then mastic sealed the bolt tops, its stopped my wet feet!
its in my build thread somewhere etc

I do need to go through your build thread properly. There’s lots you’ve done I need to do! I’ve never done swivel setups etc. I’m slowly getting there though. I’ve been fighting a humm/vibration and then uncovered some nasties so today has been rear output flange seal, two new props and a rebuilt handbrake. Really hoping for that cures her and it’s not more sinister

It was all first time round for me with a defender, nothing to hard, the only real challenge its getting the old rusty stuff off, most of the work I've done over weekends or bank holidays etc, most on my own if i do have help its more company than actual help required etc. swivels are a doddle, but do yourself a favour and make up a mount like i did, buy chopping the old one down, it took me about an hour to do because i have a rubbish grinder ( you need a large one) the whole swivel assembly is also easy to remove like it did as one unit then you can do it on the bench in the dry etc dont try to sod about doing it on the car etc i di new props as well, the thing is a real triggers broom now!
