arnt we goin over old ground here

again!!!!

yes :D

Yep, 315/75/R16 (35/12.50/16 in old money).

They're on 16" diameter 10" wide black modulars, which give tonnes of offset. With the original arches fitted they stuck out by three inches

But I've now fitted extended arches which just about cover them :D

No arches;

+2 extra wide arches;

I agree wif iwantwo :D i do like the original bumper with A bar look at the front and the wide tyres look good.

im giving serious consideration to going from 285's to 315's. can you report back after the weekend? let me know how you got on clearance wise compared to your 31's.

Cheers

If you saw that behind you you'd move:cool: It's like 'get out ma way'! I can relate to questions about tyre performance pros & cons though; there are more than enough threads about sizes/will this fit mine:doh:

I'm trying to decide between budget Kingpin @ £50, Hankook Dynapro or Khumo KL71's.

If your considering those you cant rule out the cooper STT or the BFG KM2.

Most websites rate them as the 2 best MT tyres out there. i have the cooper STT's and there very good, id consider trying the BFG's though next, just to see what there like for myself.

Lots of reviews here, select tyre on left.

Off Road Tire Guide for Mud and All Terrain Tires - Offroaders.com

Good advice on the other sections of that website too.

A mate with a Disco has recently got a set of STTs, he lent them to me to try out on the 110 at Bala pay 'n' play, and we were mightily impressed by them. I did manage to get some understeer on wet tarmac on them, but other than that they were stirling...

Reason I went for the Hankooks was that I got them in 35" for less than the STTs would have cost in 33" size. Everything I read about the Dynapros on the web was positive so I thought fcuk it :D

Was looking at Cooper STT but can pick the Kumhos up for £120 a piece which seems pretty good so think I'll go with those. Do you reckon I need offset rims or just a standard steel modular do?

Yeah, the Coopers or BFG's would be nice but the price isn't! Dynapro are just under £90 & Khumo's £100, both inc fitting. Think the cheapest I've seen BFG's is about £140 & to be honest I don't think I'll do any off-roading that would see the difference.

what about Fedima F/Power 4x4 Mud Terrain £100 each same tread as km2

Its the name and availability.

Fedima do some good tyres, the scirocco is well respected as a good alternative to a simex.

But compared to BFgoodrich there no one, they cant produce enough tyres fast enough for demand in this country. Tyres direct have the scirocco on back order months in advance and the tyres still come from Portugal late.

And also its being able to offer them in different sizes, which they cant and the bigger companies like BFG can.

If you can get your size and there cheap enough then get um id say.

And how did they perform today? or is it tomorrow?

Let me know, as im going to get me a set of new muds. looking at the dynapros and the KM2.

Know what you mean with the understear on the STT's, i lost the front a little after an arctic pulled out on me. light drizzle/rain, hadnt had time to soak in(you know what i mean) i applied the brake at about 15mph and the front slid out a little.

can u send a close up of wire tensioners

You dont want them i promise you.

They might look good, but i bet your insurance wont insure you with them fitted. If you hit a person with them you'll do some serious damage. In terms of practicality, there no substitute for careful driving.

And, if you fit them to your motor, make sure its to a strong bumper and a strong roof rack because the moment you hit something big your going to rip them out your front wing.

There used to be a website called "bush cables" but its now not working.

Google "bush cables" for more info

It was today. The tyres did great, Buildwas is an extremely slippery site normally, but today it was slushy icey mud on top of frozen ground, so people were sliding all over the place, but the Hankooks did really well and I was only properly stuck once, which resulted in being pulled out by two winches and a 7 tonne bulldozer. :D

Overall they felt on a par with the STTs that I drove a while ago at Bala, so can't complain when you consider the price difference! :)

Ok. Thanks chaps for all the help. I ordered a set of Cooper STT's on 16x8" silver modulars from Tyres Direct for £690 all in and delivered! Bargain! Just need to get them on and start to play!
