Not knowing the technicalities of getting a wheelchair in, is a defender tall enough to allow someone to sit in a wheel chair with suitable clearance? Would it be easier to load through the rear door and modify the bulkhead to access the passenger seat that way? Has your defender got rear seats? Do the doors open enough to allow wheel chair access from the side?

i was just curious if anybody had actually done it. cos i have friends in wheelchairs but i don't think it be cheap to modify the defender and i could not afford it.

You would need to fit a tail lift for entry through the back door, as ranps would be too steep to use under HSE guidance.

It would not be practicable to fit a side lift to the passenger side as that would require serious conversions.

Yes, it is possible to carry a wheelchair in the back as long as you have suitable ground anchors and a seat belt for the passenger. My mother enjoyed her trips out in the Series :D

I made my anchors up from ratchet straps and the seatbelt was a standard wheelchair user lap belt.

you don't use ramps anymore... something like this would do assuming the height would work
