Wheel Spacers

Hi folks

just got a set of 205/80r16's and fancy some wheel spacers as i have a body kit still to fit. (freelander1 td4)

obviously i will need longer wheel studs and have spotted this kit on ebay which has 2 x32mm spacers and wheel stud extenders.

i'm thinking this would save the time of getting the old studs out and sourcing / replacing them with new ones

would anyone be willing to check the ebay item i'm looking at and give me their opinion please.........

one other question i have is the original wheel stud size, are they 51mm & 13.1 spline.?

Freelander wheels are hub centric and those spacers aren't hub centric so there's nothing to ensure the wheel is bolted up in the right place.

Personally I'd avoid those spacers and get some hub centric ones

i have the same spacers,mine are 32 m ive got them on a ford ka and just fitted another set to my mx5, had them on ford ka for over a year no problems, saves a lot of work,dead easy but tighten the extented bolts very tight,u have to get them spot on to fit the spacer,sometimes a bit over tight,,a mate had them on a landrover thing and went offroading no problems.they make your car look good.i got mine from jjcraceandrally off ebay gracon ones

So if I understand this right... the spacers in the OP's link don't auto centralise the wheel so there's the likely chance the wheel won't be central if using these spacers.

they centre ok on my cars but they are not classed as auto centralise like other bolt on wheel spacers but they are a lot cheaper and I have them on my cars .never heard of any one having problems with them though, id have thought the studs centralise them anyway

The whole hub-centric thing doesnt really apply to freelanders as they have conical seat wheel nuts which will centralise the wheel as long as you tighten the nuts progressively.

That style of spacer is no use for wheels that use flat seat wheel nuts, as the wheels will not centre on the studs and likely end up a millimetre or two off-centre.

They will be fine on a freelander - I would be happy to use them.

thanks for the replies so far folks

i've noticed the seller is away for a few days which gives me some time to ponder over your replies and make a decision.

at the same time i was thinking about a 2 inch lift kit but read somewhere that the trak rods will need the inner wing altered.? also will the existing brake pipes be long enough or will i need new longer ones.?

sorry for all the questions but i'm keen to get these things done soon and don't want to be ordering parts without knowing the full extent of what lies ahead.

i have a 4 inch grinder and just bought a compressor so if needed i can get an air hacksaw to make the job easier
