I am rebuilding my 1986 3.5 engine and when I came to look at the heads I can see why there was always oil leaking, big notch accross the rocker box gasket face. I could fill it but I have a spare pare of heads which look identical except that they have some extra tappings into the exhaust ports.

Looking through the Rave CD it looks like they are for pulsair emissions system.
1 what is it
2 do I want it
3 can I blank them off
4 any idea what thread they might be.

views appreciated

(1) Pulse air is an emissions feature whereby air is bled into the exhaust system as close as possible to the head. If there are any unburnt hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas, the additional air supplied should be enough to burn them off (in the exhaust manifold) before they exit the exhaust system.

(2) Can't see why, never worked very well at the best of times

(3) Can't see why not

(4) Haven't got a clue ......
