What's a tie bar/rod...?!?

Hi all,

Please forgive my ignorance.

I'm slowly working my way through the very long list of MOT failures and this one has got me... "...nearside front upper Tie bar/rod rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)...". Is this another name for track rods? Regardless, what am I needing to buy/fit?

Might mean the radius arms. Or even Panhard rod.
If it was tres I think they would say.

I guess they could, but I haven't seen them face-to-face to ask. They dropped my car back whilst I was on holiday...

I'm not familiar with the term so assume, like may things, land rovers have their own name for things or vice-versa. Hence asking the collective here...

That's my thought, too. There are no bushes on the tie rod or drag link.

Ha, that's the obvious answer. But, it's currently a good few miles away in a lockup whilst it's off the road. Wanted to order the parts today. Never mind, it can wait...

When you get to the vehicle, get someone to sit in the drivers seat and wobble the wheel from side to side. Grip the ends of the panhard rod with your fingers, any play in that is obvious.
If it is panhard rod, the bushes are only a few quid, you will probably need them sometime anyway.

What's a tie bar/rod...?!?
