The muddiest driveway in Essex
The time has come to consider a winch now I have my bumper sorted; Im lookin at a TMax 9000lbs Outback with wireless remote & 125ft x 11mm dyneema rope with Albright Solenoid & Contactor but Id like to know what everyone recommends...soooo

What make you got? What model? Is it reliable? Wire or Synthetic rope?

Ill be using it for self recovery & other light use...not competing with it at all, so therefore assumed 12000lbs+ to be excessive

Hi, I have a super winch which came with the defender i bought. I think it can pull upto 4500kg and it has a 100m synthetic bow rope with hook on the end. It also has a remote on a wire which you have to plug into the winch when you want to use it, sometimes when you plug it in you have to wiggle it a bit because of the mud affecting the contacts, but it works every time for me and i've never had any probs with it (touch wood). The wire is long enough to reach into the cab so you can sit in the landy and use it whilst trying to get unstuck at the same time.

Got a Tmax outback 12000 which I picked up cheap. Not easy to get spares for as I found out but it turns out I didn't need spares for it. At the end of the day it's basically a starter motor (got it repaired)
I wouldn't have got it if I was going to buy one, save your money and get a Goodwinch TDS

ive got a tirfor and no cable, so dont know if its any good but used tirfors at work and they woz gud

I had a Warn 9.5ti on my Range Rover. Was an excellent winch, but very expensive. I spoke to the guys at Gigglepin about winches last week. hey were highly recommending the TDS Goldfish winch range. They are relatively cheap, are the best of the chinese winches, are upgradeable (Air spool etc) and are waterproof.

If you arent on a budget, buy a warn, if you are, buy a Goldfish - my opinion anyway.
