Hi there I have a 2005 freelander sport premium with 18inch sport alloys with 235/50/r18 tyres on them and was wondering what size or tyre would fit apart from my original tyres that are 235/50/18 was wondering if I can put something like 255/55/18 on them without the tyres rubbing the arches if anyone has any ideas let me know and will appreciate it!

OK dunkyboy - you are nothing if not persistant.

I've read all your posts and I don't understand your desire to change the wheels or tyres.

None of your suggestions will alter the 'softness' off-road very much at all - and even if it did - what is the point.

However to answer your current question, I don't think that 255/55 18s will rub the arches at all.

They will probably foul the front suspension spring cups though.

Run your hand behind the front wheel and check the clearance you have.

Now imagine if the tyre edge was 18mm higher and 10mm nearer the spring-cup.

Also your speedo will be wrong by a fair margin.

Not a good idea.
