What to paint chassis with????

Hi folks, got to that stage where chassis could do with a bit of tlc, in the past I had painted the front part of chassis with hammerite. Today I've jet washed complete chassis ready for paint. On another note I've also purchased a 5ltr tin of carplan tetroseal underbody sealant. What I really want to know is how to prepare and what to use & can the tetroseal come in usefull?
 
On a clean well prepared I would use synthetic enamel [available at agricultural machine parts places] Hate underseal,looks good to start but after a couple of years starts to crack letting in water an increasing corrosion.Also a pain in the arse when the inevitable welding is needed.
 
I use fertan to convert any rust - water based so can be applied when damp - then just spray on dinitrol black wax - comes ready in schutz containers - makes the job a piece of p1$$

fertan is also a primer as well as a rust converter so you could just put paint on it

I like to be able to see whats happening with the Chassis so I don't use any type of undersea! Just coats of Hammerite no 1 to start, then finished with Hammerite smooth gloss applied with a Roller to give a brushless more professional finish! Tough and durable and any chips are easily seen and dealt with. Kind regards. Chris
 
I have used a product called dinitrol that turboman, of these hallowed forums, recommended to me.

You can get it with an applicator tube to spray into chassis sections through the drainage holes. It is self sealing and will completely attach itself to metal and paintwork. I can recommend it although i haven't used it over a long term it did seem to stop some rust in its tracks on a bulkhead on my last series.
 
on my latest project i have stripped all the old gunge of with the grinder, wire brushes, thinners and anything else that would remove it, then 3 or 4 coats of zinc primer on the outside and plenty blown into the chassis with the cleaning gun.For the top coats i have used 5 litres of industrial paint that i was given so i thought i would give that a try. i will have to wait and see what the result is over time.

Should think that chassis gained an extra 1" with all those coats, sounds proper tho & bet it looks smart
 
Richards Chassis recommended "Jotun Conseal"...it certainly seems to have gone on nice and I hope lasts longer than the B&Q straight to metal crap that seems to have lasted less than six months on the daily.

+1 I use fertan its top stuff. Hammerite is often in my local cheapo store for couple of quid and works fine for me. Dont use it with other paint
