What to look for in a compressor??

FREE CFM,
CFM,
and then HP,

WHS ^^^. Free CFM is the most important. This is basically the CFM that you compressor delivers with the pump running. It is not the 'headline' CFM that the manufacture puts on the box :)

I run a 150 ltr compressor that gives, 150 psi at 7 free cfm. I run a 16A cform socket for it as it blows 13a fuses due to the motor start up load. There is a 16A fuse in the motor so it has ample (excuse the pun) protection.

Also try and get 10mm internal bore hose as this will make a different to your tools as well.

Gents, as always your advice and comments are greatly appreciated, having looked at petrol ones I think I may go down that route. With that in mind are there any pitfalls to petrol or anything I should be looking for?

Ta,

George
