A good friend might be selling his Disco, K reg 5 door think its an SE ( top model anyway ), 7 seats, 120,000miles, very good condition a few minor rust scabs on the body, alloys , due a cam belt soon, could do with two tyres in a few thousand miles.
I dont want to rip him but dont want to offer too much any ideas?

Hi, I cant offer to much guidance but I picked mine up for £1710.00

Full SH
MOT 09/06
TAX 06/06
200 Tdi
7 Seater
Very good condition...

Has twin sunroofs, stowage nets original manual and roller blind for boot space.. Not sure if this is an SE ed... knocked down from 1800 because of rear floor rot..., which is not as bad as I thought... phew....

If you are happy with the vehicle go for £1700 and haggle.. :D

I paid £1400 for a similar spec V8, with a spare set of wheels and tyres. Deisel will be worth a bit more.

Hiya winchman,

I pay £2000-00 for mine back in January of ebay.
1991 200Tdi Discovery. 3 door, 12 months MOT, 6 months tax, alloys, full length roofrack.

I would say between £1500-00 and £1900-00 would be a fair price.

The local free ads paper is always a good guide for what to pay.

Late 200TDi's in good condition can fetch up to £2500 on Ebay, more in Autotrader. It all depends on the condition and how they drive. There are so many about that buyers can afford to be picky and turn down ones with excessive corrosion, worn seats etc. Good 200's can fetch more than average 300's, it ALL depends. If it hasn't got any serious rot, no gearbox clunking and doesn't smoke then I'd say £1900 is a VERY good price. So it needs a cambelt, that will cost you no more than £200 at a garage - not many used cars are going to be sold to you fully serviced. Go and look at a few, drive a few and then go back to your mate with an offer after you've seen what your money will buy you elsewhere. Tales of people picking up cars at bargain prices are exceptions, not the norm. My mate just bought an absolute minter of a 300TDI on an L-reg for £2250, I've seen worse condition Discos going for over £4k. Deals like that shouldn't affect your thinking because they crop up once in a blue moon.

for my ten pnneth open the box!! if you are going to buy look further for what can be had for the money you want to spend . Just cos your mate has this one doesnt mean to say you have to buy it. and buying off mates is aproblem if it dies on you. There are loads of good discos out there if you look. pick a price and go looking
