So, I've decided I've come to the end of the road with Scratchy. A lot's been done, there's a bit to do to make 'im into a decent Landy but I haven't got the time, space or inclination to get it done. And I think I've found a nice '71 Series 2 109"...
Now, do I brake it or try and sell complete (ish). MOT'ed until September 2013...
First off - what I will be keeping: front bumper, wheels, sliders (if they'll fit on the 109), snorkel, possibly the doors if they're better than the ones that come on the 109. Seats. Battery. If 'ee gets broken I'll probably keep the enjun to convert to a 200Di to fit in the 109...
I'm trying to remember everything that's been done - it's all been done since I bought it in March last year.
- I fitted what was a brand new, genuine Land Rover seat box.
- Welded up passenger footwell and repaired both outriggers.
- Bearmach Blue HD front springs and Terrafirma ProSport +2" shocks
- Rebuilt front axle - new Bearmach driveshafts and CVs, timken bearings, Bearmach HD drive flanges. New diff pan welded on and new diff bearing and seal.
- Rebuilt front brakes - new Bearmach callipers and discs, pads and braided hoses.
- New o/s rear drive-shaft, new bearings on both sides of rear axle. HD drive flanges.
- New shoes and cylinders on rear brakes
- X-Brake hand-brake fitted
- GKN U-Js on rear prop
- Sumo HD track rod and ends
- New (to me) headlight surrounds and grill
- Fitted really clean series doors (although I might keep these for the 109)
- Fitted brand new genuine LR hinges
- New mirrors (although the driver's is cracked now)
- Timing belt and tensioner (although I may be keeping the enjun)
- Replaced any screws and bolts that have been removed with stainless ones.
- Fitted galv steering guard.
The bad bits - the bulkhead's not good but repairable. Both sides on the door pillars. The chassis is a bit holey. The wiring leads a little to be desired. Currently not starting, the started solenoid is sticking but I'll get on to that this week.
Thoughts peoples...?
