What road tyres are best for my Defender 2" lift

I can recommend the KO2s mate on standard suspension, 235/85 for road and gravelly tracks or even rock crawls but if your mudplugging in the winter look elsewhere

Edit really cannot stress how good they are in snow as well

Noise wise they were more than acceptable in the disco, could hear them on certain surfaces at certain speed but not too loud at all imo.

Can't hear them at all in the defender!:confused::D

Ran KO2s for 2 years on disco. Sold the disco, got the defender with grabber at2s on. Rears were shot, fronts were good. Changed all 4 for another set of KO2s.....

I ran insa all terrains , direct pattern of bfg allterains but half the price and no road noise , and half the price great tyres
I rate INSA above BFG's, I ploughed thousands of miles on INSA and rarely went off road..... BFG's were a treat and they have worn to nothing in less than 3 years.

In 2years in the disco I hardly noticed any wear on mine. But I only did 12k in that time. I'll be keeping a close eye on these then

Correct tyre rotation for ko2s is rears straight forward, fronts cross over on way to rear every 5000miles iirc

I have done 3k since the BFG's were fitted.
 
Yes, but I have far larger ones which would only end up costing me money rather than saving me money. I would hope with them being smaller it would make the noise more tolerable and decrease wear on bearings, as well as economy and helping my landy not feel like so much of a boat lol.
What size are you running?

I struggle to believe spending £100-150/corner on new tyres is really going to be a saving for you.

The noise is largely the poor NVH and design of a Defender. Easiest way to solve this is to buy a Disco 1 or RRC. 90% the same as a Defender under the body. But how the body is made and mounted makes a huge difference to NVH.
 
I'm running BFG AT KO2's Very different to my old set of BFG AT's. I can now take corners quite fast and they grip and hold me around the bend and I feel safe. The old ones were generally like playing Russian Roulette, unless it was wet cos they were then lethal. That would be why they never wore out! The way the new ones are gripping I would expect a standard level of wear from them, but well worth it to be safe!
Don't notice any road noise from them.

I would have thought unless they are upwards of 35x12.5 there is going to be no advantage to fitting a different set. But if you are going to I would be sticking with the BFG AT's for our usage. Even with a 2" lift, 265/75 or 235/85 will not look too small.

Had them from new. Still had loads of tread on when I scrapped them. KO2's have a completely different feel to them.
 
My last set of KOs got pretty wild in the wet towards the end of their life, presumably the rubber is harder at the bottom of the treads. The KO2s are good, but only done 28,000 on them so far so too early to tell if they’ll be the same.

Absolutely. TBH I can remember having a few scary moments in the wet when they were new. Definitely got a lot worse as they got older. Either, as you say, compound gets harder towards bottom of tread or were hardening with age. They were showing signs of developing cracks in to the tread. KO2's seem very different. :)

Same size as my ko’s But mine never get that old. I do about 25k a year and sold them with about 3-4mm of tread at 100k. Second set of ko’S are half worn so will be looking at some of the new ones for the next set.
