What paint for steering and suspension?

As I start do odd jobs on the suspension of my Defender (TD5 2002) I will clean off and paint any bits I remove. Any suggestions for paint? What colour would they have been originally? Any particular tips?

If this should be in Defender forum then please move it.
 
I posted this over a year ago and I’m bumping it back up the forum because I’m amazed I’ve had no replies. If anyone’s got any experience of painting LR suspension parts can you share some tips please?

I like them rusty :rolleyes:

But if you are desperate for a proper reply then use the best primer and prime them really well and then use the best top coat and top coat them really well.
 
I tend to slap on 2 pack epoxy paint on pretty much everything underneath that needs a coat of paint. Arc-rite is your friend
