Hey I know everyone has there own opinions on these cars all I wanna know is what ones are the best ones to buy I have around 12,000 , 13,000 to spend and I want a L322 prefrebly Diesel. I have driven them and absolutly fell in love with them. I know all about the Gearbox issues but not much else about them. I am however well equiped on how to sort any problems that come up with it. Just want to know what you guys who live with them everyday what else is weak on the apart from the gearbox.:)

Welcome....

With the greatest of respect, are you sure you are equipped for an L322??

They are a minefield of electrical system that have inherited a multitude of 'Diva' issues....

Get yourself a good, full fat diagnostic device like a BBS Faultmate Extreme or the New Nanocom, download the rave manuals www.landroverresource.com and get yourself a cup of tea and read it through...the L322 is a ridiculously complicated beast.

Deep pockets are required for any Range Rover owner, deeper still for a L322, as a comparison, a set of 4 suspension airbags for a P38 will set you back around £250-320 for OEM, a single front airbag for the L322 is in excess of £300...!!

Never buy one with faults, no matter what the seller says, 'Easy fix that mate, just gotta do X, Y and Z and i'tll be right as rain'

If it was that easy, why didn't he/she fix it before selling it.....

Buy with your head and not your heart, there are plenty around so take your time, Range Rover ownership is a lifestyle, it will breakdown, it will be expensive to repair, run and maintain....it will test your paitience, and it will test your relationship with the other half (if you are in that situation).

But you will never, ever want to be without one...ever again.

Thanks Very much saint. I know what you mean and have dealt with a few as for electrical problems Im not worried by them and have family who have a garage with full access to any diagnostic equipment they have. I will check out the rave manuals. As for deep Pockets I am very well prepared for the costs of a Range Rover and I know the price of parts are expensive not really worried I know I can afford to do it now thats why Im asking what else goes wrong with them. Soo I can brush up on anything that I may need to deal with. I am very mechanically minded and do not have any worries about taking anything to bits to repair or replace them. I will be making the decision with my head firmly screwed on, just my heart made up my mind.

all L322's are **** - get a p38 (waving the flag). Seriously if you are going for one, make sure as best you can that it's sorted.

A m8 of mine has one;2005 4.4 petrol and loves everything about it apart from the electrics. He's on his 4th steering wheel motor and when it goes the wheel drops to it's lowest point and he can't get in!!!

I'm sure whatever you end up with, the good folk on here will initially take the **** then, as usual, provide you with a wealth of knowledge to fix anyhting that comes up

Thanks very much Hawaii. Everyones opinion is welcome. Its not that I dont like the P38s just my personal prefrence is the L322. Hope soo what car do you have??

I have a friend who went down the ex-police route. Massive mileage but meticulously maintained. As long as you dont mind putting right a few little cosmetic issues...

Tdv8 but out of your budget
Iv got a td6 and love it ! Strong and fast engine and not juicy like the petrol
Yes the gearboxes are ****e but service them and drive the car well and they last well

Whats your like to live with you had many problems with it.??

Touch wood had it 10 months and not had any major problems
Only Minor electrical faults like blower resistor failing and air suspension that just needed a reset with diognostics. I bought my own diognostics kit and it's well worth having your own as they can save you loads of cash
