2006 TD4 Sport 202,000 miles think that might put some discos to the test

there's some D3 s that have just over 300,000 miles on them :p

My td4 had 190,000 miles

they can indeed and do some serious mileage if looked after :D

when i got rid of mine after 7 x years it done me proud , ;)

my disco is only on 98,000 miles
Ive not had the FL long myself, bought it high mileage from a work colleague as a project ( fixer upper ) cosmetics mainly ( rust, dents, ) but aside from that first turn of the key.

I do however have some carrier bearings on the prop to change and also a misfire which is becoming quite an adventurous find. Ruled out crankcase breather, turbo vent, air, oil filters, fuel pressure and as of about an hour ago ruled out a faulty injectors. Next i suppose is air hosing and MAF Sensor.

This is the first LR ive owned and can honestly Say these little problems all build on its character if it was my ford giving me s##t id of scrapped it already.

found them a good engine if looked after, they do grow on u, like a good few of us i've had landies 30 x years

what revs is ur misfire , have u tried an injector cleaner , i.e. millers

have u checked or done

1) egr blank
2 ) checked all the vaccum hoses
3) fuel filter
4) fuel pump , if u do have to replace the filter or pump make sure there oem , when we're they last checked ??
5) have u tried unplugging ur maf first to see if it makes any difference
6) checked ur turbo intercooler hoses for splits etc , is there any black smoke

ref ur injectors , did u do the leak back test

hope that helps a little

Most of these I have done or have checked. Regards injectors I didn't do leak back only removed connections to isolate one by one, each time the engine became really lumpy therefore each injector is pulsing as it should. But I suppose they could be dumping too much fuel in the cylinders as the smell can be very rich in fuel. Smoke and misfire comes in at between 2-2.5k revs. Under load the car seems slow off the mark but at about 2.5k revs picks up and pulls away very well. Once the engine comes to temperature the smoke and misfire reduce slightly but not 100%. Clearly alot to poke at still. Thanks for the suggestions food for thought ill let you know if I have a break through.

My td4 had 190,000 miles
I know of one D3 that had 465,000 miles on its original engine before a replacement was needed. That particular D3 earned it's living as a car transporter, pulling up to a 3.5 ton trailer across the country every day of its working life.
Those numbers are the sort of numbers that the FL1 can only dream of.

Sounds like the 2K misfire syndrome to me. I've not found mine in 18 months and have given up trying tbh. My boost is also delayed when the throttle is pressed. I can't find anything wrong with mine though. So I just drive it like it is. It drives fine and only misses when on a very light throttle.

have u got a synergy box fitted, know when i fitted mine on the td4 it transformed the engine ,but had to make sure everything was working perfect before hand

got rid of that take off delay and also the flat spot

now got one on my disco and really pleased with the results

wow, that is impressive , see they also fit them in jags so at least they must be a half decent engine ,:D

This ere fred is for Freelander's. Disco owners should abandon their heaps in the disco mileage Fred in the disco section. We don't want yer oil leaks in ere. :p

My hippo drove 350 miles today. :)
