Hopefully an easy one for you LR gurus. Just taken on this 109 and am investigating potential fuel delivery issue. Following the fuel pipe to the tank brought me to these access plates in the floor. Previous owner seems to have thought it a good idea to paint them shut. Can anyone tell me what they give access to? Thanks

p.s. yes, more brushed cream Hammerite. I don't know either.

Yep just seen it.
Maybe he had an issue with pipes/pump the pump may still be inplace o_O , and cut the holes. Not even sure if yours even had an intank pump TBH but those are holes peeps cut.
Take them out see what you find and maybe, do away with your standalone jobbie and fit an in tank as you have good access.

Mines been dead for a while so just running LPG as CBA to get the tank out, wish my PO had done that  ;). I may have fixed it by now:).

Would guess one is for fuel delivery pipe from tank to lift pump and the other would be fuel guage sender...my 101 has them factory fitted and the spacing looks about right compared to an S2 tank...

Later series 3 rear tank? Or sw? Access to fuel sender and pick up pipe, and also upper chamber vent balance pipe clips. There's a crossmember between the two hatches, that the tank has a recess for.

Thanks for the replies, some good knowledge here - I might push my luck for more :)

If I can't get the screws/bolts out using, ahem, "conventional" methods, would you consider it a daft idea to grind the heads off to free up access and then secure them using new bolts? What's on the underside, captive nuts? Am I asking for trouble if I tread that path? Is it best to let the leviathan sleep and just worry about it as and when I need access?

Thanks

Not 100%, but the screws probably just go into little steel clips with threaded holes in them.
It might help if you can spray some penetrating fluid in at the top of the tank, or run it down around the screws.
But if not, the clips may well just break up if you can apply a decent torque to the screw heads with a screwdriver.

Speed fasteners. They slip on to tabs with holes, and are folded such that they make a thread. Probably rust. Grind down to the washer. Remove and replace with new. If the tab is damaged fabricate new and glue in place. Apply anti corrosion wax.

From my 101, my 109 is the same.

Thanks everyone, I took the grinder to the bolts as suggested and it all went as described. I now have access to the bits below 👍

All fixings are available new from the usual vendors, apply anti corrosion liberally and it will serve many decades.
