what landy is this?

I've got a y reg 2 wheel drive (front straight diffless axle ) land rover with a 292 ci thunderbird v8 on a ford 3 speed. I got it from someone i know. I think its a military, its also got a great interior and heated split screen. I will post more as I can.

If it was military , even though its on a y plate it should be tax exempt? I have tried to find out more about the heated screens but cannot...

I remember reading somewhere about some 2 wheel drive Landrovers done as staff cars for the military, so you may be right, however what makes you think it should be Tax exempt? The military also had series III's of which very few were tax exempt.

Belgium military had RWD only series. What the op has is some guys idea of what to do with a bunch of parts.

292 ford motor hasn't been made since 1960/61

possibly military due to the 2wheel drive axle up front, landrover produced quite a few over the years at least from S2 through to the S3 (maybe even a few S1s)

or it could be a complete bitsa that someone has built

regardless it should be a laugh to drive with a V8 and slush box

oh and you can still buy heated screens

an ex squaddie that lived across the street form me mums when i was growing up had a rear wheel drive series 2a the same one he used to drive during his service as a military courrier delivering people and small shipment supplies during the various conflicts he served through

the landy you describe sounds verry farmiliar to what he used to drive about with the exeption of the heated windscreen
