Im 16 comin 17 and i am a tractor mechanic and am from an agricultrial background, i will be usin the landy everyday to do 40miles to and from work and of a weekend go in the woods with my dad on hellish steep ground, deep water and soft going, and i live in a big area of common and like a good play so was wondering what would be best kit for me to have but also practical, i have already got 2" lift and Dakar turbo tyres but what else without being to much? thanks

Hello mate,
steering guard, diff guards, snorkel and maybe hd steering arms seem to be the first ones a lot of people go for but you could wait and upgrade as and when things break?

Get youself some good recovery gear (ropes, shackles etc) and make sure you have strong recovery points, that are properly fitted and not bolted to rust :D

i dont have them on mine but anti roll bars make a much better on road drive. might be worth considering if you do lots of miles.

oh and a full polybush kit. better off road, better on road, easy to fit, 60 quid.

winner.

iv checked insurance as iv got a 1.1 peugeot 206 to learn in an drive for abit till i get a bit of a raise! can u belive it is £4856 a year to insure my car, yes i did say £4856! i cant belive it, land rovers £800 cheaper but its running the old girl that i would find difficult so the peugeot is the transport for a while whilst the landys in farm workshop being welded and tarted up abit,

Try Adrian flux mate, mines 1600 first car, no no-claims and I've got convictions on my lisence.

As for the off road kit that depends on what exactly you want to do, roal cage, winch, heavy duty steering arms ect also good things to have. Im getting en on mine fingers crossed!

Doesn't anyone believe in driving their vehicles any more? Drive the vehicle and learn what it can do on and off road. Join a local landy club and go to a few events... the drivers there will be able to teach you more about getting the best out of your vehicle than you will ever find out playing with a load of mods.

Over time you will find out which mods make the most sense for your particular situation; but to be honest the very best best modfication I have ever seen on a land rover is a decent driver!

Seconded! Had a day with an instructor given to me years back at my 18th and to say it opened my eyes would be an understatement.
