Hi
V8 4.6 won't start after HG change, just found this unplugged at the rear of the engine. Any ideas what it's from?
Thanks

Is it a thor? Looks like the throttle position sensor connector but that should be near the RH side of engine loom & connects to throttle body - right next to where breather pipe connects.

There is an identical connector to this one which is connected at the throttle. The disconnected one doesn't extend very far from behind the engine.

Clueless what it's for, I don't even remember disconnecting it

Do you have LPG installed? Possibly a connector for that. Will have a look at mine in the morning (it's stripped down currently).

Have you any equipment in the car that's not working, audio, sensor etc. Can't see it having anything to do with the starting though. It's some kind of audio connector I think especially with those colours

Haha yes the whole car doesn't work, engine won't start. Only turns over slowly/

Don't have LPG fitted. If you find out what it is, please let me know. Thanks

Sorry I meant before you did the head!!

I'll be honest I only just bought it and only ever drove it onto my drive :D

I have no idea if anything is not working, although the small screen in the centre of the dash doesn't seem to do anything....although I'd imagine the wiring for that would be behind the dash

The crank sensor has a trailing wire with a socket, so perhaps the photo above is the plug for the crank sensor!

That would also account for failing to start.... Not sure about the colours though o_O

There is no connector i can find with that colour combination on the connector views for 1999 car. Also looked at 1997-98 nothing.

I'll double check in the morning what the colours are. Also found a disconnected ground so that may help the starting

Crankshaft position sensor would be my guess...
C0168P on a Thor petrol v8... wire colours according to the ETM are: Black/Yellow, Pink/Black and Black

And yes, it being disconnected would stop the engine from starting as the ECU uses it to know where in the ignition cycle is... it's about the only sensor that will stop the engine running completely.
