What is the thread/bolt size for the breather hole on a Defender axle?

It isn't, but 1/8 bsp tap will go through easy then you can use push fit pneumatic fittings.
It fact, on an undamaged thread a 1/8 bsp fitting will screw in without tapping it out. Gearbox, timing case etc are bsp though.

Thanks.... I was trying to find a bolt that would fit but none would so I assumed it was damaged.

Why do you want to put a bolt in? For masking purposes perhaps?

That was the reason. I have a selection of bolts but couldn't get any to fit. I'll pick up a breather bolt today to double check.

Well I've got the breather bolt and it's a very fine thread. Not sure if it's metric but I've been told it is......

At least I can block off the hole now
