This plate was bolted to the inside of the front grille near the battery holder.

What is it actually for?

It's now missing its captive bolts as I attacked the rusted nuts with an angle grinder before I bothered trying to undo them. I didn't realise that they were attached to the plate. It was also bent to nearly a right angle to itelf at one corner. The discoloured part is where I heated it to bend it back.

Is that the plate which sits just under the horn? I assumed this was to help prevent mud / excessive water getting onto the feeble Lucas honker.
