What is NAS?

I've been looking through some Land Rover magazines in the past few days (new entrant to the world of Land Rovers) and I have seen adverts for slightly more bulbous looking replacement rear lights for Defenders.

They are called NAS. What does this mean?

North American Spec. The Defenders that were sold in the States were refered to as NAS Defenders, and hence replacement parts for them are also refered to as being NAS. It is quite possible to build a NAS Defender from parts here in the UK, indeed you'll often come across NAS replicas for sale in the mags, though easier to purchase a genuine one, albeit in left-hand drive format, if you search around a bit.
