What have you done to your Landie today.

I was at the Gaydon Land Rover Show today and saw several 90/110/Defenders with LED headlights. According to my MOT man they are illegal. If you read the regs from 'the ministry', they must have the self levelling capability to be able to pass even if they pass on the beam tester.
Mine passed with them fitted

yesterday I took the hood and sticks off folded the screen down, went for a nice drive along the seafront in the sun, today Im putting it all back on cos its sodding rainy again and i need to use it, this year the hoods been on and off more than a whores drawers -when is the summer coming!!!!

Shortened the spring on the front nearside shock. Hadn't planned to and not sure why it happened but I have an almost complete circle of spring metal that I gathered from the road and the shear is a match for the current end of the spring. Now have to find a day when I have nothing planned so I can get it replaced

Not mine but a friends' TD5. Some while back he had installed Carlos Fandango LED lights to match the Sawtooth Alloys and NAS full width rear step. The o/s reversing LED decided to fail so he called me asking can I fix the problem, 'Sure I say, it's only a couple of wires...'

I trundle down the lane to view the patient to find not one, not two, but three connectors between the main wiring loom and the Carlos Fandago's. Why can't people wire properly?

So cut out the offending mess...whilst being covered in shedloads of mud n crud...installed new connectors to the rear of Carlos Fandango's, new clean wires from the CF's, routed directly to the main loom to find, yep...no power. So there's an open cct or permanent short somewhere in the loom. I decided this can be completed another day when it's not 29degsC and came home 🤷‍♂️

I replaced the valve cover gasket along with the 13 seals on the bolts on my D2 TD5 in May & today I noticed the 13 seals on the bolts are already perishing, bloody Britpart rubbish , how do they get it so wrong on such a simple item ? Done 485 miles since fitting Looks like I should have bought genuine.

That's why they changed the name to ****part.
I finally learned my lesson after replacing front wheel bearings on my Disco 1 for two consecutive MOTs. Considering that it did less than 3000 miles on the road and Stoneleigh and Billing weekends between tests i felt the quality somewhat lacking!
I wouldn't mind if they were replaced by me and i'd cocked it up but they were fitted by my cousin who has had his own garage for over twenty years.

New seats from Exmoor Trim finally arrived last week. Fittings box opened, no nuts, bolts or washers🙄.
Ho hum, I tried.
Now for the battle of wills over do I wait or do I just order suitable jobbies from fleabay.🤔

Unless they come with stainless steel fixings I would junk them anyway. Over the years I've built up a stock of the most common sizes, thread, length (pozi, self tappers, std & flange head bolts, socket head etc), washers inc. penny type so I'm rarely stuck. Any 'new' jobs I have to do I replaced the fixing with a stainless equivalent if possible. Having said that still a PITA if they were meant to be supplied.

PITA indeed. I've waited about 5 months for these seats. If the email response time is any indication, I'd best order myself some fixings. On a plus side, the seats seem good quality and the kids like em. Only 2 seats going in the 2nd row with a cubby box and eventually a diesel heater underneath :)
I always order more fixings than required so I have some spare but never seem to have the right ones:D
