stripped the steering box off the disco, cleaned n painted it ready for fitting tomoz, pressure washed the underside of the tub, attacked it with a wire wheel , rust treated n waxoyld....

finally managed to fit the fuel tank and tank guard, fitted longer bolts to the chassis so i can remove the tank guard and tank seperately should i ever need to.....

thats looking very smart mate nice work

you got the engine in and running then fanny???

Engine in, transmission tunnel made.

bracket for pas pump made- pas pulley swapped -need hydraulic adapter to connect to landy pas pipes.

Went scap yard diving and need two pipe connectors to connect to custom rad.

So getting there wiring in needs final checks, air flow meter pipework needs sorting and few other bits hoping to get day on it this comming week with my friend.

Of course, pacing myself with it and had to accept several things not as I would have them-but friend helping means well.

some TLC wouldn't go amiss...
Right smarty pants answer me this .....we are looking at winch bumpers ...like the ones with combined A bar to protect the rad , BUT where the hell can the number plate go? as most with an A bar seem to be tubular and not square?

fit a pair of tool clips like these, to the Numberplate,

Then attach to the rollers on the winch fairlead.

made a more substantial exhaust bracket, fitted the rock and tree sliders, fitted the tank guard, cut the rear wheel archers some more and steam cleaned it

With the front crossbeam off decided to do a job on my list and replace the sump gasket and the oil pump bolt as precaution against that issue.

Sump came out easily and although the oil bolt was reasonable tight it clearly had no thread lock on it. So all in all worth the effort. Also gave the sump a degrease and jet wash so easier to spot any leaks. All refitted and looks as good as new, bright shiny aluminium.

Tomorrow back to hopefully deal with the captive bolts on the middle crossmember no longer being captive.

Painted wheels white (hammerite smooth)
Painted end of hubs black (hammerite smooth)

The motor looks 10 times better than the old rusty ones. Two coats gave a good looking finish.
