I had another session on mine trying to improve reliability. I changed the crank position sensor, which was interesting because I'd not made its acquaintance before. It's been hiding all this time under the air inlet hose near the starter motor. Nice new clean one on now. I was going to swap the manifold sensor too, but the new one that has been sent by a well known mail order company is the wrong size, so I slathered the old one with carb cleaner and got some of the soot off it before putting it back. I've also fitted a new rear mud flap, but that's cosmetic rather than functional.

Not the disco or series but used some gaffer tape on a blown intercooler hose and upped me mpg from 40 to about 50 on back roads :) (been needing changed for about 3000 miles now)

Will see how it goes on the motorway next time, should be up about 55-64 when running right so hopefully with that and an EGR delete soon I'll be reet as that comes with the new pipe :D

What you driving go get that? A bumper car?

GT Tdi 130 :p Averaged 47.9 on some rather windy and seriously hilly backroads this evening :D 5* outside too so not great for MPG either, much better than my 42mpg earlier although that was better than the 37 I got first this this morning

Seemed with the bust pipe it liked going a lot faster to negate the air difference ;)

Removed 2xsouth mimms Starbucks coffee cups and KFC remnants after Southampton trip yesterday. Stunk! God I hate the M25. ****, crap, depth of hell road. Arsehole.

Last weekend I wired it for 240v. Caravan type connector on the side and an ELCB with a couple of circuit breakers for the loads. Can now leave the battery charger on without having to lift the bonnet etc, also got a fan heater to warm up the inside and defrost the windows before I have to venture out in it.
Fitted a 12v fluorescent light too which makes a huge difference to being able to see things inside the car. :)

Changed the oil in the main gearbox. The old stuff looked pretty crap when it came out. Looked like really really strong tea, god knows how long it had been in there.

Shiny new stuff in now. Better do the transfer box and axles as well, bet they are minging too.

I've done nothing to it, but had a shed-load of parts and good intentions!

Had to move a tonne of rocksalt from where the dozy office manageress had bought it from to a shed in the school playground. After clearing the shed out of course! Found the trailer needs a wheel bearing and tyres pumping up ..

Started working in the shed, my shed not school, to get parts ready to go on the Disco and lost all electrics. Took a while to find Juliet had unplugged it ... after removing the sticker saying NOT TO BE UNPLUGGED FFS!

Lights gone in the bathroom, lads computer went west, Juliets Laptop similarly, so been fettling them through to the afternoon ... then my laptop also decided to not work in sympathy with the others.

So started well, ended well but nowt done of any note! Had a lovely roast dinner though .. ;)

Spent 2hours trying to get the spade connector back on my starter motor, n what a bitch of a job it was, must've been a bloke that designed it, cos who the hell in their right mind would make it so you can't feckin see the leads or hardly get in there without having to take the down pipe off!! I refused to take it off so did it all by feel, n yippee it works again, also tightened up exhaust bracket n took wading plug out

I have always thought that somebody design's the engine, somebody else design's the car, then somebody else decides to put them together and them three people never meet.
