What have you done to your Landie today.

Stripped the O/S front swivel joint. I'm glad i have an angle grinder, those stupid torx screw heads in the bottom bearing had to be cut through. as did the surrounding metal work. The other bolts were so rusted up i had to use the two spanner 'flat pry bar' method of getting them undone. Now I ain't showing off by saying I used to bench 165kg as a training weight (Fat and old now admittedly). But, I swear it took every ounce I had to get some of them cracked.
Inside the housing everything was mangled. Bottom and top races were in bits, swarf and shards of metal everywhere. Complete rebuild this weekend. Might as well do Calipers and Discs whilst I am at it.

Snap.....got mine in bits today as well:)

Torx bits came out easy after heating with a blow torch for ten mins, just whacked the casing with a BIG hammer and then didn't even need a bar on the little torx socket and lever.

Rest of it was as yours, rust and bearings in bits but balls are good and shiney.
Got discs and pads and new brake pipes with braided hoses so all good for a few years hopefully:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Picked mine up from the garage the other day with the bulkhead all rebuilt new battery box and sills fitted full service on engine and boxes. new diff pan on rear. just got to take it back so they can do the front axel next week it needs well may need new CV's and defo needs swivel balls and internal half shaft seals. feels like new again thats for sure not bad for 19 years old :)

must get the respray sorted also

Drove down to Braintree today, left in plenty o'time and managed 125mile round trip on quarter of a tank...really getting into Radio2 now for two reasons, firstly I'm getting old and secondly I have bought a plug in iPhone/**** nav charger and it interferes with KissFM a buggery. R2 is fine though :D

Yep ditched radio 1. Fecking lame now.

got me panhard/steering box bracket on, clunking gone, adjusted bearing on 3 or 4 wheels, 30-35mph wobble, gone.
seeing as she behaved herself, greased the driveshafts, and tidied the crap out from the inside and filled her up with bio.

Feeling pleased about things just now. A few weeks ago I made an attempt to cure a fuel leak from around the sender unit on my defender 90 td5. New white plastic thingy to go on the tank, new rubbery ring, and a new locking ring, plus a judicious application of gasket sealant. All pressed in nice and tight and the lock ring tapped round with a hammer and screwdriver. The reason I'm feeling pleased about it today is that I've just filled the tank up right to the brim ready for an outing tomorrow and there's not a drop coming out. A major contribution to fuel economy. The old arrangement wasn't fitted properly.
