The paint has gone down to bare metal on a couple of places on the doors and the rear door the paint has blistered in several places along the bottom. Do you need to put a primer on before painting where the paint has gone down to bare metal. I am thinking of trying out a hand painting job. I do have a compressor with all the spray toys but never used it. I thought I might do a couple of panels at a time unless anyone on here can advise me different.

I have used a wire brush attachment to remove all bubblingImageUploadedByTapatalk1347372360.685722.jpg then I will use a sand disk attachment to fine sand it. Then etch primer it as aluminium is poor for grip qualities, then sand lightly. Then a well shaken spray can from my old halfords man using trade card. Then clear lacquer. Hopefully a good finish as getting ready for selling now 😒

Thanks chunkymunky. I will have to find out what the French equivalents are for etch primers. I think I need to give mine a total paint job though.

primaire d'accrochage i think you will find;)

stops the paint flaking.

i have......and still am........

removing all bubbling from outside, removing all the goddam double sided sticky tape from inside the rear and sanding down.

filling and treating any areas i am not happy with.

replaced all the lenses for side lights etc.

put liner in the rear, just looking for cheap arch covers if anyone has any for a 90 going will pay or swop.

trying to find a local fabricator to make me 4 brackets to complete the fitting of fold down rear seats.

i cut my old nearside footwell out completely on the 90 and welded a new one in. then just for good measure i welded some nice new plates into a friends chassis so he could get an MOT :) good times

Tried to tune up my 200tdi today... did the injector pump stuff... still need to do a bit more, started raining and I had to go give blood. Pfftt!

Also tried to turn the "smoke screw" or what I thought was the smoke screw... it was not gonna budge :/

Not sure if there is much of a power increase or not... still got some tinkering to do thought I guess

Gave her a big time service. Diff oil can't have been done for some time as it was like tar, had to flush the diff a few times to clean it all out. Rear calliper pistons were seizing, so freed them off. Replaced coolant too (plus wash the sludge out of the rad) as it was so diluted was only rated for about -7c, which isn't good enough for these parts, when over the last two winters it has dropped to around -25c.

I hope the many pounds of oils, fluids and filters will improve some of the sluggish when cold issues.

the smoke screw  like the one James Bond has when he wants to get away from the baddies? :D

Yea... thats the one... so I can leave the bad boy racers behind in their clios the moment the lights turns amber! :D ;)

I think its supposed to be the low end fuel screw or something, the one that is on the outside of the pump. Cant see the tack weld on it so cant get it free :(
