Heard a loud metalic bang as driving along and expected something catastrophic to happen, but nothing :confused:

So at home , got my newly aquired large rug to lie on and.popped under the beast. Wiggled bits and looked to see if anything was wrong but nothing. So spent an hour brushing dried mud out of places, coverered from head to toe in mud and dust :(

So then decided nothing left to lose so lay underneith and jet washed it, now soaking wet in muddy water.

Had the nicest bath and washed about two tones of soil and twigs and grass from my hair.:)

You just gave me a great idea .. our caravan has 4 berths, but the kids don't come with us now, so the bunk bed and it's mattress is in the loft .. I reckon that might fit!

I've put a bed in the back of me Van, for when I'm working away. Gonna be nicking the cushions out of the pikeywagon, when I'm using it.
 
the market demands cheap ****e so they have to offer it ,as ive said many times they also do genuine etc as well

lets agree to disagree on britpart, lets just say my money wouldn't be spent in that direction if possibly avoidable and certainly not on their own brand tat
 
why would you buy timken somewhere else dearer,and there is a parallel with whats gone on in society ,ive talked to them ,they dont want to sell cheap **** but thats what the market demands and it aint just britpart with that pattern, cheap parts are **** from all ,there arent many factories producing a choice that people believe,bearmach etc get there bits from the same places its just people buy more oe from some than others ,thank ebay and internet for cheap ****e,if only world was as simple as some believe

We asked them on here before to explain themselves and you guessed it they didn't respond!

While they may sell OE stuff cheap, they sell a lot of tat and do not respond when things go wrong.

A challenge for you James as your obviously on good terms-ask Britpart to come on and discuss their successes,their failures and what they will be doing in future.

Accy seems happy to take any sponsors, so why not ask them to sponsor the forum and you can be their advocate for what is good and what is ****:D
 
as i said they do oe ,genuine as well ,you cant moan at tescos for poor ketchup when they sell heinz as well ,your thinking too simplistically about it ,wheres the market ,ebay etc brand doesnt count price does and unlike local shop theres no reputation to keep on the internet ,you could have a consicence but market doesnt favour it,i can tell you whats worth buying pattern and whats not ,they are a wholesaler its not here they need to advertise but amongst traders and internet has removed the good will side ,ie i could sell you a part for £3 but spend £5 and its worth it ,dont work on ebay bargain hunters
 
I've cleaned the back out ready for two weeks of travel across the south of UK. And in doing so discovered why my central locking wasn't working and fixed that to. Happy days

used mine to collect some sand and bricks as my van failed the mot :mad:also found out that even tho there was 6 days left on the mot, a fail means that the old one is invalid

I'm not disputing that but just find it very hard to believe, otherwise there are going to be a lot of garages with an awful lot of vehicles on their premises all waiting for repair/rectification before they're legitimately allowed to leave!

MOT testing might seem cut and dried but there is a grey area - if you take your car for an early MOT and it fails, is your old certificate still valid? We find out.
Recently, we wrote aboutcutting the cost of your MOT. One tip suggested drivers should book early to allow time to shop around for repairs.
However, after several of you emailed in with further questions about the law, we decided to explain this further and we’ve discovered a grey area when it comes to MOT testing.
Falling foul of these laws could not only land you in hot water with the DVLA and the police, it could invalidate your insurance.
We started with a simple question: You can arrange a test up to one month before your current certificate ends. But can you still drive the car if it fails the new MOT?
Well, it depends on two things.
If your current MOT has expired

The law is quite clear: you MUST have an MOT. Without it your insurance is void and you’re breaking the law.
So say, for example, your MOT runs out on 30 November and you’ve got a test booked for that same day.
If your vehicle fails and you need to wait a day or two to get repairs then you shouldn’t be driving the car.
Although the law states that in this instance you can take the vehicle to a test station for an MOT test booked in advance or bring it away from a test station after it has failed the MOT test, to a place of repair.
But otherwise, driving around between test and repair is an offence.
If your current MOT is still in date

Here’s where it gets complicated.
To encourage drivers to keep on top of vehicle maintenance, the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) allows you to arrange a new MOT test up to one month before your current certificate ends.
In theory, this means that if it fails you’ve still got time to get quotes and get it fixed before the previous MOT actually expires. The earliest date that you can do this is printed on your existing certificate.
However, if the vehicle does fail the new MOT, you shouldn’t be driving it. Here’s why.
Although you’re not breaking the law by not having an MOT (because your old certificate is still valid, remember) you could be prosecuted for driving a defective vehicle, if stopped by the police.

Whether it’s a broken lightbulb or brake failure, you’d be guilty of driving a car that has known faults.

So, your best bet is to get it fixed ASAP and not to drive it in the meantime.
A VOSA spokesperson confirms: “Should you present your vehicle early and the vehicle fails the test, your original certificate still remains valid until its expiry date.
"But this does not mean that you are entitled to continue to use a defective vehicle.
“However, once the defects are repaired you can continue to use the vehicle until either it is retested or the original test certificate expires.
"Remember a current test certificate does not allow continued use of a defective vehicle on a public road.”​

A qulity Timkin bearing is the same no matter what colour the box it comes in.

One place I use for over the counter stuff (not cheap but handy) has mostly Britpart stuff, when I ask for a part the counter guy says do you want genuine, OEM or the "crap" one?

I then make my decision on what the part is, what it has to do and what the price is. It all comes in a blue box regardless of the quality of the part inside.

I wouldn't touch a bearing, seal or other stressed part that is "pattern" no matter what colour the box is but for other bits like trim etc I am quite happy to use "pattern"
 
popped over me mates and got my welder back to repair my drivers door on the 110

put an extra piece in to make it stronger (know if i need to remove the winding gear out i'll need to cut it ) . the door bottom is quite bad with the tin worm :mad: so before i refit the door card going to give it some attention and some waxoil .
yesterday had a new screen fitted after it got badly cracked on friday :(, managed to get a heated 1 fitted :rolleyes: , i've got the relay and switch and a mate will wire it in sometime:rolleyes::D
 
dropped a new engine in the blue disco we brought as a non-runner today with the ol man and then left him to do the wiring whilst stripping out the back of mine and started prepping for the new rear panels. Checked my levels n thought about draining the coolant out and refilling with new then decided my back was already burnt enough :D
