Fitted the new thermostat, at last no more half an hour before warming up properly :D who ever knew £4.50 could fix that *touch wood*

Does yesterday count?

Went to pick up the new engine today, well saying new £80 2.5 Turbo with 78k on it theoretically.

Now all I got to do is remove the French junk from under the bonnet and shoe horn it in, grinder and welder at the ready.

If anybody has any tips or know of any posts about this conversion can you please let me know, been searching the net for 3 days now, cheers, Steve.

Try this thread. might not be exactly what you need but it still might help.

The fuel pump on my landy decided to give up the ghost today. I can't believe that's the fuel pumps gone down on both my vehicles within 3 days of each other.:mad::mad:

I changed the fuel filter just to be sure it wasn't blocked but to no avail (I always carry a spare onboard just in case). I also found that I have oil in my injector loom so that'll need doing too.

spent 2 hours tryin to bleed the cooland on mi 300tdi disco..

what a ball ache!

put 100ml in top of stat, pump hoses for 10 mins, put another 100ml in, then pump the hoses, another 100ml..

did that for an hour, started her up, got up to temp.. waited 5 mins, took plug out of top of stat and put another 100ml in, then pumped hoses for 10 mins, another 100ml,, etc etc etc..

am i doin somethin wrong or is this how its done?

Replaced the original 45amp alternator for a 70amp one, and after finding out that my boost gauge was broken, I thought I would buy a new one, got it today, took the old one out, when it dropped out, the needle on the old 'broken' one suddenly sprung back to where it's supposed to be and it now works  but I've given the old one to my dad, so no big loss :biggrin1: Good day all in all :biggrin1:

I did mine in the week.

Took the header tank cap off, stat plug & rad plug off - started the engine - topped up rad first till full, then the stat, then the header tank.
Replace plugs, run round block, top up header tank as required.

Job done.

*Edit* - it took all of 5 minutes. :bounce:

Put wide angle prop on, as i felt a bad vibration looked at the prop, the uj and end of prop totally cream crackered. also noticed rear diff on its last legs, much play and much grinding noises so am after a second hand 24 spline diff.
