Worth knowing, but also kinda obvious.Just read this and this quote makes, as you say, very interesting reading.

Like I say, I've had mine in for 5 odd years with plenty of offroad, hard use, for leisure and work and for one to let go now I think is pretty good. I'd also say the cheap cv's nland halfshafts are pretty cheap and dead easy to replace, the same can't be said if you have all the uprated tack and it leads to the diff taking all the stress, or worse, the transfer box. Also, you won't get much change from £1800 to do the ashcroft uprated stuff, which just isn't worth it if its not in a comp safari/winch challenge truck.
Good to know, but better to know how to swap out standard parts etc on the side of a road, just maybe not as convenient!
