Fitted me new snorkel, replaced the old rusty bent one.

Began taking my exhaust manifold of to gain access to the stater motor. The moment i plug the battery in it immediately starts to turn over, except its not engaging with the fly wheel so makes a horrid grinding noise. Anyone know if thats the solenoid and motor not working correctly?

Also, don't suppose anyone has a replacement motor and solenoid for a 200tdi disco
engine? cheers :)

Ide say the motor is fine providing the solenoid also provides movement for the gear engagement

Lots of little fiddly things, chopped my front wings down to accommodate the larger tyres and bent the edges over so they're not sharp.

Took the rear wiper motor off to see why it wasn't working .. cleaned it out, oiled it, runs a treat off a battery, don't run off the vehicles switches! Fuse OK, power seems OK, stumped now.

Cut off a couple of bolts holding the spring re-locators in that were too long and making grinding noises when driving.

Bent the bumper wings/endplates straight and added a couple of mounts to stop them flapping.

Lots of silly bits that just tidy it up a bit (not that anyone but me'd notice!) or needed fettling.

New thermostat, hopefully will stop it getting too warm, checked the old one, wasnt opening fully till you got a full on boil going in the pan. noo one opens nice and quick, and fully before you get to the boil :)

started rear wheel arch, repairing seatbelt mount and also body support to box section.all cut out and plate welded in.also checked boot floor, still plenty to be getting on with

ok cheers for that, bought a second hand replacement and will buy another solenoid as a spare i think :) at least i will have a complete motor spare if it is working :)

Took it down to the 'bottom' garage and sorted out some 'excess to requirements' tyres to go B&W show :D

Tyres are now stashed in the trailer, so we can pack the rest round it ...

Striped and painted my axle
