Its WOF this week, so time for a ....

I've been using sponges and our 20 odd year old puney water 'blaster' to clean the car since we got it (13 years ago). Today I took it into the wash bay at work. Brooms to scrub it up and a proper jet blaster. 13 years of moss and lychen (or what ever that stuff is) finally got their marching orders.

I just hope, in the light of day tomorrow, the 24 year old paint and clear coat hasn't also been stripped off! I could see flakes of paint from the bumper (painted before we got it) being stripped off and flying around.

I had previously snuck it into a service bay and sucked up a couple of kg of stones and assorted crap into the works vacuum cleaners.

Gave the old girl an oil change at lunch time today. I always struggle with the under pan, but today was the first time I've done it on a hoist and thought it would be a lot easier with good access to the bolts. Like heck was it - still as bigger struggle, in many ways worse cos I couldn't balance it on my knees.

There's always been a lot of oil on the engine since I got it, but today seemed noticeably worse. To say it is dripping in oil is not an over statement. If I'd had more time I'd have cleaned it up and investigated, but it was during my lunch break and was taking longer than I'd hoped, so just fought with the under tray to get it back on.

The pic doesn't really show the extent of it all.

So, it went for its 6 monthly WOF (MOT) today.

The old girl passed again with flying colors. Its boringly predictable obsession with passing WOFs is 2nd only to its boringly predictable obsession with being reliable :D

Only 1 advisory...

I wonder if the 75 year old Mk1 Ford F-Series Bonus truck it was parked next to when I pickled it up is as reliable...

Dunno about reliability, but the Bonus is going to be hard to beat in the "Longest Wing Mirror" category! :D

Put my i6 on ebay.

Got a quiet in the yard for a bit today. So picked up the T Cut and went round all the vans tidying scratches and marks around door handles and locks.

Decided to do the same on the Freelander, but with the plastic surrounds on the handles and remote locking (although its hardly ever locked) there were none to clean up. But there's various blemishes on the paintwork from things like kids leaning against the car and smearing the paint with sun tan lotion, which appears to be a no-no for paintwork, so tidied them and various bits up.

I think the old girl think's I've taken a lover or summat.... all this attention she's getting this week :D

Little monkeys, mine is thinking the same.

My other half picked me up from work in it and I said "I missed you" he replied "you are talking to the car aren't you?"

May have been talking to the car after it was off the road for 5 weeks.

So the 'New' tangiers model has a tailgate window that doesn't quite drop enough.

Shock horror, the original plastic sheet and mech still fitted. So, if they last 20 years the cables stretch which is the problem with this one. Adjuster fully out and too much slack.

My phone stopped connecting through Bluetooth and having read stories on here about the modules I was getting worried about even more costs but I had a brainwave....
Got my wife to come out and her phone connected fine so did a power off reset on mine and woohoo...All good again

empty wallet moment narrowly avoided

It’s got a tiny bit of lacquer peel on some edges which is a bit of surprise l though it was the burgundy ones that done it you can only see it up close but will need sorting I suppose

I was not to bother about colour I like them all except green🤢
but it’s had more complements than any other I have owned

I have a Baltic blue Fl2 I don't like green cars either. Didn't fancy a black or grey one either.

Nice wheels, better than the 3 spoke ones you get.

I don't like green either, although I liked Tonga Green on the FL1, it was a but much on my I6 though. I like my Red FL2, especially with black side vents.

Those are the Sport FL1 rims, and IMO were the best looking wheels LR made. I'd loved a set on my FL2, only they don't fit.

Once I've finished sorting mechanics out I'm going to get the black vents and the indicators. But cosmetics will wait.
