Power steering system flushed with 2 litres of new fluid and new reservoir fitted
I have a noisy pump, never noticed it before, let it develop for now
Cleaned the seats as it's a lovely day and hoovered the life out of the interior, not a dog hair in sight now :D
Might go for a run to New Brighton tomorrow and look at the sea 🤔

My old banger £200 daily driver runaround bmw failed the mot today with a knackered subframe. I had a good look at it and the whole rear suspension looks like it's been parked in the sea for some years, so sadly off to the scrappy it goes. It means the pride and joy FL1 is now promoted to daily driver again.

Charging FL2 battery, was going for a run but it's too hot
Only had 11.8 volts due to much locking and unlocking, starting while doing a service, starting while changing power steering oil etc etc. doesn't help that the mirrors fold every time I lock it/unlock it, I forget how to stop that happening.

Give it a good run - stick some tunes on and use the air-con.
You’ll enjoy it and so will yer FL!

I wish,
Got more painting to do while the weather's nice and we're out at Bury market tomorrow so that'll do the job. 30 miles of Motorway each way,
Drained just over half a litre of oil out as it was reading too much after replacing the oil with 7 litres of good stuff, still over the mark so might have to drain another half litre out

Yep - overfilled is not good.
I aim to keep mine between half and three-quarters

It's not the locking and unlocking causing the battery to get low. The car stays awake for 30 minutes after single locking, and 10 minutes after double locking. That's what pulls the battery down over time. When these are being serviced at LR, they are supposed to use an auxiliary power supply, but I wonder how many actually do.

Wishing I had left well enough alone now
FL2 Power steering pump gone noisy after fluid change, no time to change it before road trip so have to cross fingers and hope it'll be ok,
Sounds like a bearing but I'll know better when I check it over with a stethoscope on Saturday

Air lock?

Can you not change subframe and rear suspension as a unit from a scrapper ??
It would be difficult to get a good one from a scrapper, with all the arms etc as it seems these motor's subframes are quite susceptible to the rot. Also, the gearbox has a fair old whine on it so not sure how long that has got. However, if I had a garage I'd consider doing it. It's time to give the FL1 some love though now after doing all that work on it.
