We did our annual Christmas trip to see relatives up north, 1200km. My oil & filter frequency has been 4000km's or 6 months and after a longer trip it was time for a service. It's also relaxing to do something useful while on holidays.

MOT is in a week so decided to have a look under and check for wheel movement.
Jacked it up and found this

Worse still it was the same on both sides but thankfully I had a couple of spare clips from previous repairs.

Once that was sorted I checked the wheels and found one had movement, turns out the last time I adjusted the tracking I forgot to tighten the bolt 😟.
Then I looked for the cause of a horrible creaking noise that was coming from the front. I thought it was my fault for not greasing the ARB bushes properly when I refurbed the front subframe and ARB but while working at it I found the real culprit.

It looks like the top ball joint has collapsed and was really tight and noisy, this was the last thing I suspected.

Last thing I did was rub down one of the brake pipes and paint it, hopefully this will be good enough. I just need to check the rear now and it will be ready for MOT, 🙂

No Ali, you must have it wrong, they never fail. ;)

They guy who did the warrant (MOT) on mine told me mine needed replacement for next one. He recons its why the motor clatters as it goes over bumps. He's got to be wrong too, I'm sure I must have just left a bunch of spanners somewhere under the bonnet.

I like to think of the rattles, squeaks and creaks as character. 🙂
Now I've tamed the front creaking a little I can hear the others so much better. 😄

Sometime around 1674 the British flag became formally known as the 'Union Jack' when mounted on a warship and the ship was not in harbour. At the same time the British flag was referred to as the 'Union flag' on land.

The Union Jack is the de facto flag of the untied kingdom
The Union flag is a Union Jack the union jack is a union flag
Thanks for your input Andy as always next time we can try and see whats the difference between my road tax cost on my late 06 TD4 and yours or did you find out i was right about that i can’t remember you updating me?

It was simply that the g /km rating for yours is lower than mine so putting them into the same tax rating. There is a change in march 2006 increasing the tax duty but it appears that the g/km rating was reduced for the later vehicles from that date.

All info went onto a response to make it clear for everyone.

So we were both correct !

Incidentally, the quote about the flag was to try to explain what Ali was saying. Flag and Jack do appear to be interchangeable but Wiki says what I posted!!

Interesting stuff.

this time yesterday what would you have called this flag 🇬🇧?
It’s genuinely heartbreaking that the union is getting eroded in Scotland against the majority of people
But not everyone lives on the border and not everyone really cares I suppose
The SNP have made a real mess

I was just taking the p1ss but that is what I believed to be true.
Doesn't mean it is true, just what I believe to be. ;)
