What have you done to your Freelander today

Fitted a new aftermarket MAF officially 100% sorting the Freelander in this particular moment in time. EVERYTHING WORKS! recon VCU, recon injectors, new heated screen, aircon, new brake lines, new tyres, new bushes, aftermarket parking sensors with the correct angle kit, MG mirror mod, sun shades - £3.5k spent on it last year on top of overpaying for the car in the first place - yes I know I need my head examining! :D

138K miles on it and I am lucky owner 13 !!!

Immortalising this moment here for everyone to see - yes it is possible to have a really sorted Freelander!

Every problem on this car can be solved easily - all you have to do is throw unjustifiable amounts of money at it and it will be 100% for at least a certain amount of time! :D

Thanks.

No no no..... This is all wrong... You've broken your Freelander 😭

The engineering on these includes a very important feature - the SDR (Self Destruction Regulator). This module ensures that as soon as anything is fixed, something else breaks - the beauty of this design is it gives you a very close and personal relationship with your car. If you've ever got it 100% working then you must have broken your SDR module 😢

Luckily it can be easily remedied... The SDR can be reset by driving vigorously over rough and uneven terrain for a few hours on weekends until something breaks. 😜🤪

I work around the SDR by not fixing broken bits I can live with.

The SDR monitors that there are broken bits and therefore waits for them to be fixed before breaking the next bits.

So I never have any serious problems with my Freelander ;)

Brought one home (after a 20 year break, from a 50th, not from a FL1)

I've had an 98 XDi 3dr in rioja L series, a 99 50th 3dr L-series (ex-duckworths demo), a kalahari TD4...

The 50th will keep my td5 company, but i'm tempted to just put it in the living roomView attachment 315629:D
Cracking motor.

The D2 ain't to shabby either.

Replaced El Cheapo front drop links with APs heavy duty jobbies.
Completely shut up the thud, thud that was getting worse.
However….. front near side tyre is down to 2.6mm. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Got the freelander recovered home after stopping on the A1M ... a pin-sized hole on the heater matrix inlet pipe caused a nice water feature under the bonnet. New pipe ordered, really need to get the car back on the road

Oh no! There is nothing in the RAVE about the SDR! LOLOL What have I done!

With my beloved 2005 5dr TD4 now getting a bit long in the tooth I've realised that I want to keep it forever, but maybe just save it for the weekend and get it in top fettle without wearing it out as a daily driver. Now I've always fancied a three door and although I prefer the look of the facelift, both inside and out, I couldn't resist this pre facelift beauty for the price. I don't think I'm going to do much to it to be honest.

Think you need to put standard/stock rims on it ;)

Nearside window decided to go down only but not up while driving home yesterday... So pulled the door card out, motor was fine so before I checked the wiring I thought I'd check the switches - swapped them over and it started working again so now gotta hunt a spare one down online...

Also pulled the roof off to see how it worked... Want to make some kind of shower cover for it as I can't afford the £300 originals on eBay.
You can still make the reg out 🤨
The £300 shower covers are a gimmick tbh
I have had 3 , I still have one “ mint in original packaging never opened “
One i sold never tried and the other sold but did try it and the time it takes you to put on is unrealistic to be any use at all
The soft top is excellent tbh the only fiddle is putting the side windows in but the are a good fit and quality up or down
