What have you done to your Freelander today

Changed the vacuum leads today, some of them were fraying so thought it time!

Also capped of the egr! The amount if crap in that thing (forgot to take pictures of that)! Seems there is some oil coming in from the turbo, so I'll have to sort that out soon.

How is the TD4 resonance with the new exhaust?? Particularly on hills.
It’s very dull at the moment and it’s rattling on the subframe so can get the full effect tbh
I will put a video on YouTube when it’s on properly
Hopefully when I am getting the tracking done tomorrow they let me mess about with it then ( I know the owner)
But one thing I I can say it smells awesome

I loved the sound of my home made straight through back box on my TD4. It wasn't loud, just had a deep rumble and a faint whine of the turbo.
I fancy something similar on my FL2, but as the box isn't leaking, I'll wait until it needs replacing.

The lad that makes them says the baffling is wrapped in plastic and when it gets burn off the sound will change but it’s definitely more deep than standard but not loud

Been putting this job off !
but to my astonishment someone has been kind and greased it up 😀
practically fell out😮 New original land rover one back and minimal mess kept the dogs locked inside so no stinking diesel dogs
can’t remember what fuss was about tbh 🤨

Just waiting for a Bosch LP pump to arrive, then pump and filter job to do.
I’ve been putting it off with “I’ll do it when I do the next service”. That time has come. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it!

MoT done all advised last year was addressed and everything else was double checked
but it was still like waiting on results from the doctors 😩
glad to say clean bill of health
Not even sure why I was worried tbh the amount of effort and energy

I know EXACTLY how you feel !

… and then like the proud parent when you drive home :)

The road tax is now officially ridiculous 😡
it’s well over £400 if you pay by direct debit
this will kill them off I suppose so job done for some faceless git
I am now paying
£400 for the Freelander + £300 for van 1 1.6 £280 for van 2 1.3 90hp and the bargain of the bunch £35 for van 3 ( crew cab like van 2 but different model same engine but only £35 for a year 🤷‍♂️)

all the vans have dpfs and practically run on air so I suppose the Freelander is not that bad considering it apparently kills planets 🤷‍♂️

whats The most expensive car to tax ?
anyone ……own

My FL2 road tax went up again this year, it's now over £380, which is a £60 increase since buying it 3 years ago. The MOT has gone up this year too, going from £40 to £45, so over 10% increase. Insurance went up by £40 too, so motoring in getting more expensive year on year.

It makes me consider a smaller car, but the Freelander is just so nice to drive, it'll be hard to find something to replace it with. There are several EVs I'd consider, but those have huge up front payments to consider.

I don’t know what would be best we are done borrowing money to buy cars especially after the interest rate increase

i am more than happy with my new Freelander tbh and I can see myself keeping it for a long time it’s really good underneath that’s was the worry with my old one so hopefully I can keep it that way but the road tax is ridiculous

My TD4 which has been standing still for 2 and a half years went through the MOT today and passed with one advisory to change the brake pedal rubber! All I have done to it is buy a new battery and put 2 gallons of fresh diesel in it. Oh and changed the oil and filter. Drives beautifully. I was amazed and delighted. Then I had to buy the tax…..

Got it covered in mud whilst out driving some green lanes with another forum member, then got it clean again before wife saw it!
