Did 33.3 MPG on the M5 in heavy traffic.

New project Andy?
Yes Ali, always wanted one. RHD GT is out of my price range, but this wasn't. Not rusty but may convert and repair the few odd bits that need doing.
Can't find a forum for Cortina's like this one though!!
It is 818Kg apparently when dry. And it was raining!! Trailer must be 200 ish!?!

Cortina weight is about right, my similar sized Avenger GT weights 850kgs.

However your trailer estimation is way off. A twin axle Ifor Williams (I can't tell what model), will weigh around 500kgs, smaller ones slightly less, larger slightly more. ;)

Cortina looks lovely though. ;)

Gosh! I know cars have put on a great deal of weight since those days, but a Cortina was never that small a car! I'd be surprised if it was much less than a ton (although I see Nodge has come up with a similar figure). Having weighed a couple of mine at work, I know manufacturers can be a bit "economical with the truth" on car weights;). I have a twin axle trailer (not a car transporter but a big dropside) that weighs 450 kg empty.

Tested my VCU and discovered that it's okay but found a shot front bearing, and both rear trailing arm bushes to be well past their best. That would explain the knocking and bumping of my near side rear wheel on tight lock with power on, or over bumpy surfaces.

Trailing arms are pricey. You can change the Bush as usually the rubber has 'let go' and you can simply hacksaw almost all the way through the metal rim and then cold chisel it out. New ones fit with a vice and suitable size sockets.

Depends how wealthy one is!!???

I was wondering about poly as a possibility as it'll be the second time I've needed them doing. I wouldn't poly any others (other than the rear diff front, which I did a while ago).

Poly come in 2 bits so easier to fit.
Not done it so dunno if it makes it harder or more vibes etc.

Put poly in engine mount stabiliser, soon took it out!!! Like driving a lawn mower.

I might give them a go given the cost and relative ease of fitting/access. I can always swap them out if I'm not happy.

On another note, just ordered a set of G015s. Being fitted on sat. £450 lighter now.

Yeah good choice, I powerflexed mine fr. to rr. a couple of years back & the only problem I had was a squeak from the fr. lower arm bushes which I cured after fitting the std. type bushes/housing.

You're brave.
I didn't want to risk damage to my freelander the teaching my No1 daughter to drive and being automatic wouldn't have helped either, so I bought a cheap Citroën C3 to learn in.
