Which scrappy do you use?Managed to score an almost like new sunroof glass at the scrappy today for £20. Given that new ones are now circa £400 it'll do very nicely. Hopefully the hippo will lose it's damp smell now!
Macsalvage/Drews at United Downs. Always happy to pop over there for you John as its very close to my work. I'm yet to see an FL2 there though.Which scrappy do you use?
I know the place. I bought a gearbox and some wheels for my daughter's Fiat 500 there.Macsalvage/Drews at United Downs. Always happy to pop over there for you John as its very close to my work. I'm yet to see an FL2 there though.
It was a chilly start this morning. Colder for you up near the Cornish Alps too I should imagineNoticed it start up on 3 cylinders this morning, so I guess one of the 2 year old glow plugs has failed already.
Wow that's a really good find.
The car outside temp display showed -2 this morning, but it should start on all 4. It fired up on 3 until I revved it up which put enough heat into the compression to fire up the sluggish cylinder. Unfortunately the FL2 has a reputation for killing glow plugs, even expensive Bosch ones which is what I used. The ECM does use the glow plugs a lot after starting to reduce emissions, so they burn hot and don't last long.It was a chilly start this morning. I've never seen one in the flesh, so I was super lucky to get one, and the same interior colour as mine! The car it came off was an early ES premium which was absolutely mint inside. I reckon it must have been garaged most of it's life and low mileage too. The sunroof was in really good nick and there was no wear on the steering wheel leather or pedal rubbers. Even the headlining was intact.Wow that's a really good find.
So you stripped it of all the goodies then?I've never seen one in the flesh, so I was super lucky to get one, and the same interior colour as mine! Nah. Only took the armrest and sunroof. Someone had already had the two front seats. I was tempted with the steering wheel, but couldn't be bothered as mine still looks decent after re-covering it a couple of years ago.So you stripped it of all the goodies then?
Probably sensible, as I find parts I've acquired just gather dust in the back of my workshop.Nah. Only took the armrest and sunroof. Someone had already had the two front seats. If it was an auto I'd have had the pedal rubber.
Handy! Make sure you don't sit in middle seat with armrest down, could be painful.Fitted the second of my recent scrapyard great finds. A most rare accessory!
You know, that's one thing I'm considering going back for. I replaced my rears a couple of years ago as they were in a right state, but my fronts are now looking a little worse for wear. I will pop back on friday morning and have a look. If it's got a good one I can grab it for you.@kernowsvenski don't suppose it had good uncorroded window surrounds ?? Need rear left hand for a 5 door. Might be worth a trip if they have.
