What have you done to your Freelander today

Do you believe the Synergy is responsible for early HPFP failure too?
It seems to be a popular consensus. The car certainly runs quieter and more smoothly without it. I miss the additional power though.

Time will tell I guess, but if the latest HP pump fails prematurely it'll be down to something else.

I came to the same conclusion, so sold mine on.
I also suffered multiple HP pump failures while the Synergy was fitted, but that stopped once I'd removed it.
I also missed the power, but the additional power was also responsible for trashing my gearbox, which I wasn't too pleased about.

It's all history now, I'm on to FL2s instead, with a different set of issues to contend with. :eek:

What would your opinion on an actual remap ? I am all loved up with the Freelander so it’s getting 4 new tyres tomorrow and the prop put back on
I was going to get it remapped but never did

A remap done properly shouldn't cause any problems with the fuel pump. Just make sure that the person doing the remap doesn't over do it, as this increases exhaust gas temperatures well above the design specifications of the exhaust gas path, reducing the life of exhaust valves and turbo.
 
Passed it's ITV (MOT) yesterday. This time, instead of using a roller under the wheel to avoid damage to the transmission during the brake test, they tested each wheel individually instead of each axle at a time as they have done previously. Must be an update to the brake testing equipment.
 
Yesterday's jobs before the snow came down:

New brakes all round (discs, pads, handbrake shoes)
Replaced split factory intercooler hoses with some nice new silicone ones.
Crankshaft Position Sensor.
MAP sensor.
MAF sensor.

When the weather brightens up a bit I'll get around to changing the fluids that (according to maintenance book) have never been done, and give it a good service because that's due too.

The loved up feelings have gone
The fluid light came on for the brakes so by the looks of it the
slight damp on the driver side back plate we seem to have sprung a leak
Never happens on a warm summer day
 
Is that practical? They're not that expensive to buy new really.

I've seen them for sale at about 100 sovs but they're replacements and don't transfer the cal config. My unit should still have his factry cal setup from when they calibrated him to the turbo. I want to keep that. Some owners have stuck in another actuator only to find many miles later their turbo fails. But not many will come back and admit that after their original youtube fitting video. At the moment my engine computer aint talking to the actuator. I don't know if thats because it knows its faulty and shut down comms or if the computer is at fault. Firmware preservation could be activating. So not sure if i can recal a new unit myself on a poorly car. Having not gone through the process before i dont know for sure if i can and it will work. My codes dont match those of others with the same troubles. Varying opinions on this online. I'm working on the basis of test dont guess. I'm not going to replace the turbo unless its really needed. It feels like I'm breaking new ice on this. The forum is a different place to years ago. I can't get anyone to measure a ground in a harness to compare against mine. I'v resolved that one now. So i've sent the actuator oft for test. If nowt wrong it gives me a datum to work oft. If faulty they will repair. In the majority case they can do this and keep my matched cal intact.

Had a chance to drive the 7km long ice road over the lake which is in use when the ice conditions allow. They claim it's the longest official ice waterway in Europe's inland waterways ( https://www.koli.fi/en/What-to-do/Winter-season/Ice-road ). Got there just about sun set time, beautiful drive. We have our two dogs with us, they really like to travel in Freelander, they have all the boot for themselves as I removed the backseat.

Are they dogs or livestock we put the back seat up as well for my 3 border collies and they have enough space to play tennis
They do look lovely and warm

Hah, well the hovawart male (blonde one) is a big one. The german longhaired pointer male isn't that big but they are dog size dogs. Wouldn't be possible to travel with these in the boot and persons in the backseat.
