What have you done to your Freelander today

do you fancy selling your rear view mirror with the temp set up?

Of course I'll sell it. It's out the car anyway, as I was planning of fitting it into the 1.8, which I sold.
Did you know that it contains lights and can also control the FBH at custom temperatures?

So yeah I'll sell it. I've had several people ask about it, and even asking my to make more, so maybe there's a market for such an item, although the cost could be prohibitive for some.

If you're interested, then ping me a PM.;)

Finally got round to putting my new tax disc in. Bit cheaper when you buy a 20 year one.

Had a go at replacing a CV boot today only to find a couple of other issues to look at too. There was a coolant weep from the coolant elbow where it leaves the head. I replaced the pipe clamp so I hope that's sorted it. Then there's an oil weep as well, not sure about this one as it looks like it could be coming from the bell housing:( See pic below.
IMG_6013.JPG That coolant weep looks bad - weeping from where the heater pipe connects to the alloy elbow.

CV boot time - Front left inner. Only to find that the kit I bought won't fit. The CV's steel 'body' is cylindrical and doesn't have the 3 curved cut-outs like driver's side whereas the boot does. Rimmers part numbers don't show a distinction. I replaced the left front drive shaft over a year ago with part number TDB000360P which is a BritPart shaft. [See pic below] so I need the boot to match this shaft Grrrr.
IMG_6031.JPG Left hand one is the kit I ordered and on the right is what I took off the drive shaft.

You might have better luck looking for a generic boot the same size. The Britpart one will not be in any LR catalogue.

The scalloped boot is for the genuine GKN inboard joint, and the round boot is for an aftermarket (not normally recommended) joint. So any suitable size universal boot should fit fine.;)

Oil and filter change.
Was way harder than it should have been. Not convinced it was serviced before I bought it, as was stated.
You'll know if you check the air filter. I bought a van last year that was meant to have been serviced and when I checked the air filter after a couple of weeks it was obviously a year or so old.

Went out, looked at it, thought "shit, those discs look rusty", went back inside.

Can you get stainless discs?

This lockdown boads well for my FL. Interior sorted the other day . Droplinks yesterday. Thorough wash today. Machine polisher and ramps borrowed from my neighbour today. Gleaming paintwork and a poly front diff mount to be sorted tomorrow.

When you put a poly front Bush on, strongly suggest that you unbolt the other 2 mounts to give you the space to get it in. The rubber one will 'give' and get into a tighter space, but poly won't!!

Good tip Andy. Thanks. I'll actually be doing it on friday now. The machine polish to longer than anticipated, and I had to free off a seized caliper slide pin too. I also restored the headlights. That was a bit tricky as I couldn't get the gaurds off fully. Very pleased with the results though.
