What have you done to your Freelander today

I have cursed my freelander today!!! This is because the gearbox is whining, the rear diff is leaking, and the vcu has probably caused it all. Very close to scrapping it! Just had a new clutch put in just before Xmas. Not a happy soul. If it's going to cost more than 300 notes to put right it's a gonner.

Change the front propshaft, VCU & rear propshaft and I can honestly say that I am not 100% sure that anything was wrong with the VCU anyways, drive seems no different :(

what did you use on the bumpers? I need to do the wheel arches on my D2.

98p cherry blossom shoe polish (scuff remover with the sponge tip, not liquid wax one) from morrisons. Mine were really pale so slapped on loads for the first coat. When doing the second coat it sort of smeared the first around a bit so i ended up "dabbing" the rest of the coats to avoid smearing it. Took 4-5 coats in total for a solid black and even finish. I know dabbing sounds like it'll take a long time but once you get into the swing of it it didn't take long at all.

If you get t-cut or other chemical cleaner on it it will smear it and may take it off, but water and a sponge don't do a thing to it so it can be hosed off etc. Tip is courtesy of diesel-do who showed me his bumpers when i popped round.

fitted replacement rear belts - watched a man fit new windscreen.
Re-test tomorrow.
Failed to replace o/s rear drives haft oil seal because I couldn't release splines on the shaft from the diff :(

Cheers

fitted SDi injectors, with the aid of my newly made slide hammer (been meaning to finish it for YEARS)

Dear god the Hippo actually drives with a decent amount of guts now - lovely little upgrade.

Next job: turbo upgrade!

All the components for my aux sockets and USB ports arrived!
However our first baby arrived on Monday morning so it's not on my priority list to do! Especially with sleep deprevation

I feel ya... now got a 3 month old. My central locking kit has been sat in its box for over 2 months now, lol

5 tyres delivered today, Event ML698, ready to fit to my newly refurbished black alloys but working 'till Tuesday :( so will have to wait to get them fitted!
£209.10 delivered!!

re-attached bottom tie bar on the engine - had to drive 7 miles home with the engine swinging from the other mounts - the result; front prop cv boot split & cv lub sprayed all around.

For now I've stuck in a chopped down M12 bolt I happened to have but it's fully threaded - well the bush in the tie bar is trashed anyway from the process of the old bolt falling out.

long & short of it is does anyone know the part codes for the bush & bolt arrowed in this pic?

Also, I'm going to have to service the front prop cv joint when I fit a new boot. I have comma cv lub already - can I use this or do I need some specialist tripod cv lub?

Cheers
Simon
