i welded mine cos i bashed the rivnut through
it was fine after.the clunk will most definatley be the drop links.

Powerwash including underbody and then wash with Autoglym Shampoo & Conditioner.
Discovered a shiny Freelander under all the mud.
Cleaned the alloys - brake dust all gone now.

Fitted bearings to Recon vcu,
Cut a hole in my black and decker workmate as used it as vice to hold vcu and then couldn't get it back through gap once new bearing was fitted (doh)
bolted props to vcu, torqued up then realisd i got a u shape washer wrong way round(doh again)
Had a wrestling match with prop and vcu as i tried to get bearing bolts into chassis(surely a 2 man job)
Bolted it all up and now quite pleased to be 4x4 again.
found most of the tools that I had used,some still lost to the gravel Driveway
Had a cup of tea and congratulated myself.

Thanks Freelander. May have to do the same. The drop links are new though. Went for them first too, so working back from there.
With the RH drop link off there is no clunk, so the Anti-roll bar is something to do with it I think. There was a mm or so up and down play in each bush.

Hey Singvogel! I spotted a bonnet spoiler on your lovely TD4 yesterday when I was looking through some older posts. Does that by any chance deflect stones/grit etc up and over the screen do you think?

Yes - it is very practical.
I was fed up with having to touch-in chips on the bonnet edge on my previous Freeelander and researched spoilers quite a bit before choosing the Australian made EGR one.
I doubt it would deflect kangaroos or wombats
but it's extremely effective against flies and the other crud that used to hit the windscreen.They even help in light rain if your travelling above 50mph, and especially useful in snow at any speed.
On the first long journey (200miles +) we made after we fitted the spoiler, Mrs Singvogel actually commented on the lack of flies that day. Then we stopped, got out, and were surprised to see the roof-box which was plastered with them!
It's had a few hard whacks and so far only a few marks on it.
Light surface scratches just polish off - as they do from the clear ABS EGR headlight protectors which I'm also very happy with.
EGR supplied the original light protectors for the early style Freelanders, but for some reason LR didn't continue with them for the different shaped lights on the facelift models.

That looks very like the EGR guard I have.
I must correct one thing I said in my post - it's made from acrylic, not ABS.
I chose the EGR as it doesn't involve drilling any extra holes in the bonnet.
I got mine from Formula4X4 in Stone, and it has a lifetime guarantee.

Corel video pro x5 software, copper grease, rear brake shoes, cylinders un brake fluid. Other stuff like those silly springs and bits will come from main dealer later in the week as they're cheaper.

Finally got my V5 through from DVLA today... and shocked to see my freelander's had 11 owners in 11 years Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence!

Ask for an allegiance card for yer hippo at the main dealer. Cost me £25 but you get this back after the first service. Gives yer discounts on service items and tyres etc. 10% off where discount applies. The parts peeps seem to give me discount on items that int covered, so I benefit more than I should, but I don’t complain. They remember me by first name. I use lrseies web site as an eggsample of main dealer parts price then knock 10% oft. Take into account fool miles v post and go from there.cheaper from the dealer, i'm gonna rebuild my front/rear brakes next spring, so i'll check out the dealer for my bits
edit: at main dealer. offers may have changed as I got mine years ago.

i'll look into the allegiance card, i have used LRSeries in the past and found them to be really good on price, if the card will get it cheaper than that it's a must have.

When I joined it cost £25 but they refunded this when you had your first service. You didn't need to have a servioce, I could get bit cheap. I didn't pay as I was havig a service at the time. Just been searching and it looks like it may be free. Or by invitation. Worth investigating. Offers have changed a bit by the looks of it. Some random sites:
